Goal #1 is to win the MWC title: This will be quite the uphill battle. I think our lack of depth has caught up with us and winning the MWC title outright will be tough to do. I am thinking that is why Shyatt is clearing the bench with kids playing right now, getting badly needed experience for these guys to add depth for this home stretch.
Goal #2 is to win the MWC tourney: Months ago I said we would need to win the tourney to get in the big tourney. Becoming more and more apparent to be the case. Any team could beat us in the MWC tourney.
Leibermann is young, but he has a pretty nice stroke. Looking forward to what he can do.
That said, I think we are forgetting the presence that Nance has on defense, no one to stop SDSU inside. And without Nance we have zero inside presence. Cooke relies on Nance. Our shooters rely on Nance. The five guard lineup we tried vs Air Force will be even worse vs SDSU. They are lengthy and athletic dudes.
I will be watching and cheering on the Pokes, and am trying to be optimistic, but I don't see any way how we win this game tonight. Even a perfect storm of us shooting lights out and SDSU shooting poorly...this is a huge obstacle tonight.
