bowl game gear

Both the university and the brown and gold outlet got some new mexico bowl gear out. I ordered a bowl game shirt from the u today. Nice looking shirt with both team helmets and the bowl logo on it. Hopefully the game ends like the shirt looks with uw on top.

If anybody from the B & G is reading, MAKE SOME FREAKING JERSEYS. A brown jersey with the bowl patch would be pretty cool.

CalPoke - not that easy man, calm down. Nike made one and only one jersey. The number printed on it was determined by Nike. Nike would not allow any other jerseys to be made. In other words, Nike runs the show. On top of that, all Wyoming retailers had to place orders for those jerseys last December and didn't have them on their store floors until August. Orders for next year's Nike Jerseys and other apparel already had to be placed for next football season.

Custom jerseys (ones you can add names & numbers to), knock-off replica style, take weeks to get made. And honestly, this time of year (christmas/bowl season), most manufacturers could care less about Wyoming or the fact that we have the first bowl game. No Wyoming retailers (or regional for that matter) have the production means to build custom jerseys in-house.

I'm sure if someone could have told Brown & Gold (or any Wyoming retailer for that matter), that the Cowboys would go to a bowl game this year - they would have doubled their order. But the recession being what it was, retailers were scared. As a result, you have a limited supply of jerseys.

Sounds like you know what you are talking about. However my counterpoint to that would be that this has ALWAYS been one of my biggest problems with UW apparel, no matter who our current sponsor was. We never seem to even have any decent jerseys. Not for football or bball. Usually you have your choice of one knock-off replica jersey in one number that isn't even the same jersey the Pokes wear on the field.

I understand we're Wyoming and Nike doesn't probably care enough to make any decent jersey's available to us. It's just frustrating.

Damn... hell of an explanation! Nice work. :)

Completely understand the frustration, but know that the frustration is the same for retailers. If they had more options, they would have more jerseys. Hell if people are demanding them, no retailer wants to turn down a sale.
However, I would expect it to improve over the next couple years. I'm pretty sure New Balance jerseys were hard to come by originally, but that significantly improved to one of the best replicas that's ever been available (just because you could fully customize it with name & number). The team improving has a lot to do with it as well and as Nike starts to see more of a demand, they will hopefully make more jerseys available.

I had that feeling too, that because we had "lesser" sponsors than something like Nike, that may have had something to do with getting decent jerseys available for sale. I'm hoping with Nike they will step it up some more. I don't expect the selection of a NFL team shop, I just want a choice of 2-3 different numbers in brown as well as white. It just seems so easy from the demand side of everything! I understand the frustrations on the supply side. Thanks for the info.

Looks like the Bowl Gear is the same at B&G and the U. Couldn't find any shirt with both helmets.

B&G has lowers prices on each item.

Ordered a short sleeve shirt yesterday.

Put together a list of all the New Mexico Bowl Gear with pictures and prices. Even found some items from the New Mexico Bowl site.

Make sure you are decked out!
