Boise St. @ WYO

What I don't get is why on earth would you leave their best 3 point shooter practically wide open with 9.5 seconds left he never should have had day light.

Played the 2 maybe? BSU did not need a 3 there. Hadziomerovic looked like he was going to drive to the basket. Took the odd decision of a cross-court pass with 4 second left. Bizarre ending.

Tough loss but I can tell you right now that I don't think anyone beats Boise at Boise if they have all of their players. They shoot the 3 ball very well. Can't believe we didn't gaurd their best shooter on those 2 3 balls the last 30 seconds. We need to win at Nevada now on Saturday for sure.

You just explained why others will beat Boise. SDSU and UNM would not let Elloriaga find his spots at the end like we did (Grabau was watching the ball and lost him on the last play, had his head turned and didn't see the little screen that Watkins was setting up for him).

We are not a very good defensive team this year, especially without Luke. We play slow, so the scores are low, but we don't defend like last year's team. Pokes are better offensively this year in general, but the defensive holes were glaring tonight.

Really embarrassing effort frankly.

It wasn't an odd decision. It was one of the options on the play. Watch a replay. Watkins (I think) sets a little screen for Elloriga (sp?) and Grabau was watching the ball/drive and had his head turned and didn't see it until he ran into Watkins. By then Elloriaga was free and it was easy.

The effort wasn't as good as it could be but I disagree about those teams winning at Boise. With Marks playing he will put too much pressure on the defense and Boise will have open guys around the arc. They have multiple guys that can shoot. The only way Boise gets beat at home is if they just have a horrible shooting game from everyone on their team which I doubt happens with as many shooters as they have.

Marks can shoot the three, and Mikey Thompson can be just as unconscious as Elloraiga. They were going bonkers against Creighton. When Marks is available, it makes it a lot tougher to guard all these shooters with his first step.

I am beyond disappointed right now. I hope this isn't another typical Wyoming team that starts out promising then just falls apart. As a lifetime WYO fan and student I just want to see the pokes excel at some major sport and get respect from the rest of the country. We have a talented, hard working, and most importantly positive group of athletes on this team that I really wanted to see shine and this was our chance. We have two choices now. We can go on with a mediocre conference season or we can learn from this loss and come back with fire in our stomachs on Saturday and take it to Nevada. Even though I am disappointed in tonight's game, I am still proud of these players. I hope Larry and the team come back and show the country how good the Pokes are!

I think we lost tonight for a few reasons:
-We continued to leave #11 open beyond the arc when he was hot from 3 land all night.
-In the first half we barely worked the ball inside.
-At half Larry and Leonard had a combined 1 point.
-We wasted too much time on offense and forced poor shots

Thats the things is Marks can get to the basket very well , so if he gets in the lane and you are worrying about him then guys are spotting up around the arc and if you just play him one on one then he will get to the basket and score. Boise shoots almost 41% from 3 so it is going to take a very very bad shooting night for them to lose at home this year in my opinion. I guess we will see.

Boise is for real but I'm not that deflated I feel the Cowboys will bounce back from this, Obviously you never want the team to lose but sometimes a loss is what is needed. Maybe some of them had their heads in the cloud who knows. It's fine I will support the Cowboys this year just like I do every year!

Let's go Pokes bounce back strong against Nevada this weekend!

No doubt.....this is far from terminal. Gotta keep focus......this Saturday is HUGE. That 0-2 gap is a death sentence in MWC play. Need to beat Reno.

One loss isn't bad - expecially when we lost because time just ran out. We never pulled away from Boise and they never pulled away from us. It was a fight to the end, and damn that 3 point shot was disappointing, but I think the loss is a good thing. They got that off their shoulder now.

I think we pull a few upsets this year - I don't know where we will end up post season, but hell, just 2 years ago we couldn't win a road game if we tried!

I agree with Nowherepoke - our defense isn't as good as last year and our offense is better. Wish we had just a bit more D right now....

Good Job Pokes! Powder River Let 'er Buck!!!

We had a ten point lead... We can't squander a ten point lead in conference play. Getting exposed hurts

Its never good to blow a 10 point lead, but at one point we were down by 7 or 10 too. They lost, it sucks, but I think they'll bounce back. Tough schedule ahead.

Jesus christ. Some of you cock suckers should just stop watching for the season before you end up shooting yourselves after another loss.
Its not the end of the world and I think this team will learn a hell of a lot from tonight. We weren't expected to have this many wins at this point and despite a heart breaker I'm excited as hell to be 13-1.

Agreed - 1 loss - no complaints here. It was a close loss too - probably as good as a win due to the fact we can learn a hell of alot from this loss.

I'm really happy that we aren't just getting our asses handed to us anymore.

For sure, no panic required. Like I posted earlier, make no mistake about it.....SDSU, UNM, UNLV, they can all line up behind Wyoming for a potential loss to BSU. LSU, Creighton, and Wyoming all received their first losses of the season to this team. MWC title contenders? No.....but they can most definitely beat anyone in the MWC. Anywhere.

How quickly people forget that BSU team nearly beat UNM/SDSU at their places last season. If it weren't for this 3-pointer, SDSU would have gone home in the first round of the 2012 MWC Tourney.

I think if they have all of their guys they are MWC title contenders. I'm not joking either. They beat Creighton at Creighton by 13. They for sure can beat some of these others teams and like I said before they won't lose at home. Depends how long those suspensions are.

I don't think you have any idea what the fuck you are talking about! Defense is the only reason we have been winning and embarrassing effort? Down at half and take 10 pt lead and going down by 7 with 3 minutes to go and take the lead bac. Hell of an effort if u ask me!

What a game! I'm disappointed that the Pokes couldn't pull it out, but damn glad I made the drive up to watch it! The AA was rocking, student section was improving, and the team played their asses off. It certainly wasn't Wyoming's best defensive effort of the year, but they fought hard and almost pulled this one out.

One thing I'd like to bring up to everyone ready to jump off the ledge: I'd sure as hell rather be disappointed in our first loss of a 13-1 season than elated at our first win in a 1-13 season.
