Over on Gags' live chat Gags said that he doesn't think Bohl actually interviewed.

My bet is that the 3rd party search committee floated his name out there because they had to come up with more than 1 candidate. I'd also be surprised if they actually interviewed many (if any) other than the Toledo coach.

I know I sent you guys the message board memo & tweet about this.

However, last year after NDSU beat them 34-14 and totally manhandled iowa state on the line of scrimmage the coaching staff was invited down to Iowa State to a summer camp last year to emulate what NDSU does... (JERRY KILL and gophers did the same thing with bohl and staff 3 years ago after a 37-24 loss down there)

Bohl was the architect of both of those, so I really do think Iowa State reached out to him and maybe chatted, but chris Williams thinks he is a the jay glazer of iowa and he didn't interview apparently.

Humm - wikipedia says they moved to Div1-a in 2003. Seems wrong but its better than what I got:

but Bohl has taken a bottom program built it up and then moved it to the next level and won at the next level before.

I see this a lot about how Bohl built a program at NDSU and I don't ever understand that. Sure, the year before Bohl took over up there, they had 2 wins. Before that?...

It wasn't like Bohl took a program in shambles and built it up from scratch. I'm not dogging Bohl or anything, but I never understood the often used phrase of "he built" when referring to NDSU. He took over a good program, sustained that success, then took another step forward with 3 NC.

They have 2 wins in 2002, and then you have to go clear back to 1975 to have a losing season. I'm certainly no NDSU expert, so if the stats on that site are wrong, so am I.
