Basketball Coach Decision Time Frame...

Let him know he is here to help Cox, rebuild the program, rebuild his name and then let his "family" take over and have an opportunity to have his "dream job" in a better situation.

I would be just fine with that scenario!!

Not even to selection Sunday yet...and the pool is already becoming shallow...

Pat Knight let go today by Texass Tech.

Jim Les at Bradley let go as well.

I hope this isn't going to turn into a "I TOLD YOU SO" situation. UW (and the B's) better have their shit together...and it better not include a failed assistant at a shit school in Florida.

From what I hear about the time frame for hiring a new coach it won't be announced until after "Selection Sunday"(which is 3-13 I believe). I am wondering why. I guess I can understand if the man we hire is coaching now and doesn't want his name released, but didn't we hire Christensen and announce it before the end of the season. I'm pretty sure his interview was before the end of the season. Why are we dragging our feet? I believe it has been a couple of weeks since Schroyer was let go. I can understand the UW admin getting their list, putting it into priorities, making contact with the candidates, discussing it with the selection committee, and then doing some interviews, but this shouldn't take more than 3 weeks at the most. Why sit on it or wait to make the hire for another 2 weeks. It leaves the door open for any number of things to go wrong. Maybe I'm pessimistic, but all these comments by other coaches in the conference weren't just casual comments - they were meant to hinder the process of Wyoming getting a good coach. Then there is bywho whose coaches and admin are degrading the MWC and Wyoming every chance they get. IMO, the longer we drag this out, the more difficult this will get.

DC wasn't hired until after the regular season (Glenn wasn't fired until the end of the regular season). It will be the same time frame for this hire. It will be after the regular season but likely before the post-season is complete (DC was hired before the bowl games were complete).

Every candidate except BCG is currently employed so they couldn't accept the job until after the season. I am sure there is a candidate list and initial contact between the search firm and potential candidates to gauge interest, however we won't likely see formal interviews until after the conference tournament.

I'm betting Burman already knows who our next coach is, but it won't be made public until a week before the end of March - in other words a couple of weeks from now (unless someone leaks the info).

I hope so, but if that's the case, then it probably means it's a guy not on anyone's list. Burman's learned a lot of PR lessons over the last few years, and I'm guessing that if he already has someone he knows the guy he hires isn't going to impress anyone. Again, just based on the fact that we haven't heard ANYTHING, I'm guessing it isn't going to be the sexy hire we all want. If Gillispie were going to be the guy - and yes, I know he won't be - we would know it. Somehow, someway, the word would get out.

I hope I'm wrong, or that Burman has found the diamond in the rough, but the longer this goes, the more worried I get. :brick:
