Arroyo needs to be gone NOW!!

The loss against AFA rest firmly with Arroyo and his piss poor coaching. To have the ball on the 50 and the chance to drive for the win late in the 4th Arroyo again proved his ineptitude as a coach with the garbage he called. It was a shameful loss that did not have to be a loss. Is there no two minute drill in the Cowboy playbook? Arroyo is the QB coach as well as the OC. This loss is on him. If Christensen won't get rid of Arroyo, then his ass ought to be out the door too. There is no reason Wyoming should settle for garbage like this. :tickedoff:

Right on the money. I lack much for patience anymore with Cowboy Football. My daughter asked me after the game when the last time we beat Air Force was. I said hell, when is the last time we beat TCU, Utah, BYU. We can't even beat the sheep two years in a row.

The problem, as I see it, is the lack of adjustments at half-time. AFA did make adjustments. The Poke coaching staff should have been able to anticipate what the AFA adjustments would be and countered with a modified offensive scheme. But they didn't. Same thing defensively.

I blame ACS for a lack of vision on several drives. He has gone from looking to all receivers to being only focused on one guy. He left at least 2 touchdowns on the field.
And the 3 and out for NO REASON at the end of the first half fucked the game as far as Im concerned

It was clear we weren't going to run the ball as we had done in the first half. We should have burned them for trying to stop the run, but we didn't.

Wow, I'm really surprised at this post and the number of posters who agree with it. Personally, I thought that DC and Arroyo made some great adjustments in the offense for the Air Force game. Narrowing the line splits and putting a FB out there was responsible for getting our run game going. Everyone has been bashing on the read option, but the reality is that is one damn tough play to stop if run properly. The problem is that ACS is really struggling with making the right read. That dude needs to start pulling the ball way more often. Yeah, the end around didn't ever amount to much the few times we tried it, but it does keep the other team from sending an OLB/DE on the play side crashing down the line scrimmage to the RB.

The bottom line is that we got beat by a team with better football players than what we have right now. Ultimately, recruiting falls on the coaches shoulders as well, but I disagree with the idea that we have a scheme/play calling problem on the offensive side of the ball. I don't know how to get it done, but we have to start getting better players to come play at UW if we want to win more games.

I didn't get to watch the game, but the stats to me indicate that we were shying away from the passing game, probably on purpose. I don't know what that purpose is, but that's what it looked like to me. 11 attempts for this offense is a little uncommon. But now that we've proven we can rush the ball effectively, maybe we can start opening up some passing lanes, which will ultimately open up the spread option.

I would love for DC to open up the play book, but until the O' line learns to protect ACS then we have no chance. I was at the game sitting on the 50 yard line, the only time a play is made by the Pokes offense is when ACS scrambles and makes something happen.

Bottom line you can blame the coaches but when the team does not execute all the coaching in the world will not make a bit of difference.

ACS is the only positive we have on the team right now so lets give that kid a break.

I believe Air Force's secondary is ranked #1 in the Mountain West? At least they said something along those lines during the game.

DC's halftime interview says it all. He basically said that Wyo. was able to shorten the game by running the ball. Well, the team that has or thinks they have inferior talent is the team trying to shorten the game. So I understand the game plan from that standpoint. Run the ball, keep the clock running. Kind of like Brandenburg running the 4 corners on his home court against BYU. It also explains the end of the half fiasco where it looks like we are trying to protect the lead instead of scoring points. That kind of strategy worked last year when our run defense was better.

I disagree. I think they've finally wised up and are trying to make adjustments to fit the players they have. That was evident against AF, when we were actually able to move the ball on the ground.

I posted a while ago that I thought they were holding back. I'm sure they weren't now, and that worries me a bit. But I don't think Arroyo needs to go yet. A lot of changes were made against AF that I was happy to see. If that continues, I think we'll be ok.

My one disappointment was that we didn't make many adjustments at the half. AF did, and was able to mostly stuff our run game. We should have gone to air, but I think didn't because of potential turnovers.

All in all, I wasn't too upset last Saturday. I can see improvement happening, and I think that bodes well for the rest of this season. Next Saturday will be a good indicator of where we really stand.

GO POKES!

Since DC is a former offensive coordinator, I would think Arroyo is basically calling the game as DC would want him to. In my opinion, they are one and the same. Isn't that who DC is on the headset with whenever we have the ball?

Blocking and tackling were definitly better, and it was an exciting game to watch, despite being a loss.

Back this truck up slowly. He need to be gettin rid of. You just watched Wyoming open up the playbook a little this last week and run a triple option in a spread. Pretty ingenious if you ask me. Being a fellow O Coord their were only a couple of calls that I questioned. Honestly, I thought this game was called good. We played a really tough team in AF. And after listening to countless people say we were going to get blown out this week, I thought we faired very well. Aside from some questionable spots by the refs and a terrible personal foul call on Prosinksi. We were in line to win this game.

I will gladly eat crow if I am wrong, but I doubt very much that this coaching staff will turn the program around. And I still say the play calling on the drive in the 4th stat started on the 50 yard line was terrible. People have gotten too used to mediocrity in the athletic programs at Wyoming. It is unfortunate because Wyoming out to be competing with the top of the conference every year. A down year should to be an exception. And the BB program is in trouble as well......

Bison, we went to a bowl game in DC's first year. And, while the first couple games haven't gone according to plan, why don't we wait until we see how the year unfolds. I think the coaching staff is doing a good job and isn't about mediocracy either. We need to realize rebuilding a program doesn't happen overnight. Give it some time. We still have a good chance to go bowling this year and we are playing one of the toughest schedules in college football.

You have to give new coach at least 4 years, that way he has all of his own recruits and should be able to do the schemes he wants. My concern is not the offense it is the defense. Going from a power running game to a motion spread team takes at least a year and if not multiple years to instill. Recruiting for such spread is much harder than a power running game as well. The defense is what scares me. Piss poor tackling, little turnovers, undersized, conservative. Let the Gibsons do so one on one and bring some fucking pressure. We cannot get into the defense backfieild without blitzing. IMO English should be looking for new job since he has been here long enough to get the tallent needed to run his d.

Understatment of the millenium. The BB program is completely, and utterly, engulfed in the shitter.
