Arena-Auditorium to get second round of upgrades (LaramieBoomerang.com)

Phase two of renovations for the University of Wyoming Arena-Auditorium is set to begin in March, completing upgrades to the 32-year-old building.

An addition to the east side of the auditorium should be the most notable change, said Larry Blake, director of facilities planning at UW. A new entrance at the northwest corner of the building is also on the agenda, along with limited improvements to concession stands and restrooms in the concourse area. Hamburgers should also be on concession menus if a commissary area with grills is added.

I read that entire article. A lot of frickin hot air IMO - with multiple uses of the word "should" I will NOT be surprised if this is either 1) not completed as planned or 2) completed with cut corners and half assed.

I was further surprised that the AA is not up to fire code, and never was. And that the only way to get it to fire code is to demolish it and start over. That isn't good.

Yeah, the shoulds, coulds and ifs stood out in the article. WTF?

Nothing definitive at this point?

Makes me nervous (maybe that isn't the right word) - makes me wonder, and sick to my stomach a bit.

This is definitely a troubling article. I really hope they don't muff this as badly as it sounds like they may.

Not to be a downer, just stating my opinion, but I saw renderings of the "club" seating or whatever and I thought

1. It looked terrible.

2. Took out hundreds if not thousands of the best seats.

This article was just poorly written, while there have been some minor changes the project is going as planned. The latest rendings are definitely cool.

I really do get the feeling lately that we aren't going to see much more improvements in any facility for quite some time.

They don't seem overly interested in finishing off the upgrades to the AA. They don't seem overly interested in upgrading the west side of the War. I think our facilities upgrades in the athletics department is about to grow cold. I hope i'm wrong.

Source? Is this just your opinion? Are you saying this because of one poorly written article? It seems like we are ramping things up with the RAC expansion and War renovation. The article said that the AA renovations were going forward. I'm confused about the doom and gloom

Ya things are not slowing down at all. The AA is going to be done just as planned then the RAC and corbett designs are being finalized. The only one not currently being designed is upgrades to the war. people are seriously overreacting

The coulds and shoulds are just poor writing by whoever wrote the article. None of them are direct quotes from UW personnel.

All these projects take time. The RAC and Corbett upgrade won't start until next year. Figure 18 months to completion, so the earliest you would see any kind of start to the west war would be in 3 years. It will come as long as we don't go broke with cheap natural gas and oil. The way I heard it, the Corbett upgrade was the number one priority within athletics a couple of years ago and the state totally ignored them and went with a AA renovation. The state tried to use abandoned mine land money and that got shot down by the feds. This is the reason we had 2 phases for the AA.

The comments on that article are ridiculous.

What's up with the people who are so blindly supportive of anything anyone with some "authority" have?

So many people just accept the shitty Landmark staff as if since "THEY" are the law, it shall never be questioned and must blindly be followed regardless of how illogical or un-needed it is.

Look, I'm not saying we need anarchy, I'm saying let people sit in the lower fucking bowl if there are literally hundreds or thousands of available seats, and check tickets once or twice. FIGURE IT OUT. And if there is a problem with a shitty system acknowledge it and don't just say "WHAT IF SOMEONE SAT IN YOUR SEAT AND YOU HAD TO ASK THEM TO MOVE?!" like it is the worst thing a fan could ever experience.

Of course, I haven't been there since last season, but have dealt with Landmark, and it's not hard to imagine what is going when numerous people have the same complaint.

It's reserved seating. Key word being reserved.

And you are exactly the type of person I am speaking of.

Have you missed the part about the thousands of empty seats each and every game? Who the hell are these tickets reserved for?

Ugh, why even try, I know people have tried explaining this concept to you.

The people who purchased them.

OH! That's who they are reserved for? :o
Well then nevermind, I love having pissed off fans, and thousands of empty seats.

Thanks for clearing that up! :thumb:

Since when did you become such a dick? It seems like you have to argue just to argue. It's not fucking rocket science. People pay for season tickets. Those are their seats. They are reserved for them. That's the concept. Just because all powerful Beaver thinks he should be able to sit in any seat in any venue because theyre empty doesn't mean that's the real world. Climb off your fucking high horse, you don't have the answer to everything.

No I don't have the answer to everything. Actually I just repeated the same thing several other people have said. And I get the concept. It's a shitty concept when the lower bowl is empty though. Also, im not a dick. And I argue when I disagree with someone else. Like how you said Wyo to Washington football is a lateral move. I disagreed so I argued. Doesn't mean im a dick though.
