One win this Saturday and the entire mood of Wyoming fans turns around. Big weekend. I unfortunately will be in New Orleans, but I will be checking the score on my phone while in meetings. I am going to DVR the game and hopefully I will look forward to watching it when I get home Tuesday.
Although the offense topic has been brought up in many posts, I chose to add my comments to this thread as I did not want to bump some of the others. My biggest complaint is similar to most of those voiced here...the negative yardage plays are killing us and we must be more aggressive on 3rd down. We are not good enough to lose 5 yrds and make it up with a 3rd and 15. Shortening the games (running the clock) with the big boys works, but we must fight tooth and nail for first downs. We are done with the Big Boys so who cares about that now. Personally I would like to see the hurry up offense that worked so well at the end of last season and in the bowl game. We have 3 plays essentially to get 10 yards. It seems the playcalling is too focused on getting big plays rather than just getting the next first down. At times I feel the playcalling would be better off just having AA get behind center and run 2 QB sneaks then bring in ACS for 3rd and 8,9,or 10 even. We can scramble for a first down or throw a 10 yd slant to Leonard (in fact I can't remember one all year being incomplete and don't understand why we don't keep calling it). What we can't do is convert on 3rd and 10+. If we could just run north and south and minimize the negative plays we would have a chance on 3rd down. Please no run calls if it is 3rd and 4 or longer - yeeesh.
I really don't like the gimmick/unconventional/trick plays on our side of the field or in the red zone. If unsuccessful they lead to a quick 3 and out on our side or kill a scoring chance in the red zone. Those plays are perfect for mid-field especially on a 2nd and short, it gives us another chance at a first down if unsuccessful and if we can't convert we can still punt inside the 20. Once we get in the red zone we need to be aggressive and go toward the endzone.
