Anyone here have the balls?

To join me in crossing the Zion Curtain and partaking in the Provostan festivities Saturday?

I read that the pre-game mixer is at Magleby’s Grill, 1600 N Freedom (200 West) Boulevard, Provostan, 801‐374‐6249, starting at 9:30 am. Located inside the Courtyard Marriott Provo, close to the stadium, about 500 yards or so.

See you there?!?!

One win this Saturday and the entire mood of Wyoming fans turns around. Big weekend. I unfortunately will be in New Orleans, but I will be checking the score on my phone while in meetings. I am going to DVR the game and hopefully I will look forward to watching it when I get home Tuesday.

Although the offense topic has been brought up in many posts, I chose to add my comments to this thread as I did not want to bump some of the others. My biggest complaint is similar to most of those voiced here...the negative yardage plays are killing us and we must be more aggressive on 3rd down. We are not good enough to lose 5 yrds and make it up with a 3rd and 15. Shortening the games (running the clock) with the big boys works, but we must fight tooth and nail for first downs. We are done with the Big Boys so who cares about that now. Personally I would like to see the hurry up offense that worked so well at the end of last season and in the bowl game. We have 3 plays essentially to get 10 yards. It seems the playcalling is too focused on getting big plays rather than just getting the next first down. At times I feel the playcalling would be better off just having AA get behind center and run 2 QB sneaks then bring in ACS for 3rd and 8,9,or 10 even. We can scramble for a first down or throw a 10 yd slant to Leonard (in fact I can't remember one all year being incomplete and don't understand why we don't keep calling it). What we can't do is convert on 3rd and 10+. If we could just run north and south and minimize the negative plays we would have a chance on 3rd down. Please no run calls if it is 3rd and 4 or longer - yeeesh.

I really don't like the gimmick/unconventional/trick plays on our side of the field or in the red zone. If unsuccessful they lead to a quick 3 and out on our side or kill a scoring chance in the red zone. Those plays are perfect for mid-field especially on a 2nd and short, it gives us another chance at a first down if unsuccessful and if we can't convert we can still punt inside the 20. Once we get in the red zone we need to be aggressive and go toward the endzone.

I have actually always really wanted to go a game in Provo, just to see for myself exactly how weird it is. Too bad I won't ever get the chance now after this year.

This is a solid post and makes a lot of good points. One win against BYU and the beginning of this season is forgiven. Unfortunately I haven't seen enough from this team to make me think we will win.

I'm going to the game but I'm not sure that's a good idea lol If your real ballsy, get one of those shirts Pittsburgh Nellie is making and walk into that pre-game mixer. Should I bring the camera? :D

i agree calpoke, havent seen much to give me hope this weekend. keep hoping we can flourish against a non-ranked team. we had good leads against SUU and toledo and could have won by much more. i know BYU is much better than them, just hoping we play our best ball at the end of the year.

I 100% agree with your post fullback. The short plays are killing us, but the plays were we try and go for 15 plus yards are unsuccesfull as well. Our offense last year was succesfull at times when we went to five to ten yard pass (Leonard was open all year last year in the short to intermediate pass). If you have to plays gain seven to eight yards then the third downs are alot easier and the play book can open up for more options.

Well put. I am really scratching my head regarding 4 of the first 7 games to be honest.

i would also take deep chances (like 40 yd pass) on 3rd and long, if intercepted who cares it nets about the same as a punt. if no one is open chuck it down there and see what happens, catch, interference, int with no return are all ok results.

one WR should be on a fly pattern on all 3rd and long.

McP... wish I could join you in Provostan!

We are looking forward to the trip / game. Tough place for UW fans, especially as we really get a "bad rap"...for instance, the whole "piss bomb" lies that go around, the drunkeness (which is probably more true), etc.

I wish I knew more UW fans going, and I wish there were going to be 1000 or so...

I don't think 1000 is out of the question, I think that might be about right
