2004 our offense was really only Jovon Bouknight.Wyovanian said:Better than '04, '97, and '98? Really? I think you skipped some pages...ProudWYOAlum said:This is the best Wyoming team since 1996. End of story.
Meanwhile a heretofore unproven '13 team that got spanked by someone who got mopped by both Louisiana also-rans and just eked out a win against the defensive juggernaut that is New Mexico is better than those three winning teams?fromolwyoming said:2004 our offense was really only Jovon Bouknight.Wyovanian said:Better than '04, '97, and '98? 97 and 98 classes, a certain coach road Tiller's recruits long enough to get out of here.
And a defense that hit its peak in 2006 and then began a slide into being pretty bad. Glenn got lucky with Devin Moore, but the rest of the team was going backwards in terms of skill level and talent. When DC got here, he knew it would be a long building process and even stated that "we're not that good yet" after the New Mexico Bowl win over Fresno.Wyovanian said:Meanwhile a heretofore unproven '13 team that got spanked by someone who got mopped by both Louisiana also-rans and just eked out a win against the defensive juggernaut that is New Mexico is better than those three winning teams?fromolwyoming said:2004 our offense was really only Jovon Bouknight.Wyovanian said:Better than '04, '97, and '98? We had a defense in '04 too.

lolThis team has beaten USAFA (1-6), Idaho (1-6), U of N Colo (1-6) and New Mexico (2-4) and LOST to Texas State (3-3)-and you are telling me its one of the best in 20 years?
C'mon man.
End of Tall tale you mean....
1997 Wyoming beat Iowa State 56-10
1998 Wyoming goes 8-3 one of those losses to Georgia 16-9 (we played defense back then) also beat Rice, TCU and SMU
1999 7-4 but we beat BYU 31-17 and Utah 43-29
2004 Beat UCLA in the Las Vegas Bowl
This is not even the best team Christensen has coached (my opinion). The team Glenn left him had better athletes (my opinion).
Christensen has given up more points than any other coach in Wyoming history. His defenses are historically bad. Every one of his seasons is listed among the top 10 in Wyoming history-and he is playing inferior competition. This year's defense is on pace to take its place among the 10 worst in Wyoming's history.

You need to know when to hold em, know when to fold em.
I disagree that we are seeing an upward trend, but the season is young. For the past three years we have been scheduling really bad teams to pad our record. We aren't alone in this, but it is nothing to pound our chest about, and these victories shouldnt indicate that we are on an upward trend.
We've also managed to lose to a piss poor cupcake every year under DC.
So far I see DC's body of work this season as a bad defense and a good offense beating three very bad teams and one bad team, and losing to one bad team and one good one. If this is an upward trend, it is only because DC has had worse years...
it is NOT an upward trend for the UW football program..
Yet I remain hopeful. USU is now damaged goods. If DC can beat Boise, then you will be proven right Kansascowboy -this is a good team that will be going to a good bowl and DC will have given us a season to be proud of, a season to remember. I'm not saying we have to beat Freson...but if we dont beat Boise, then you must admit...we are mediocre. We've beaten no one, and we've lost to crappy teams..
Joe Tiller was not one of the greats, I'll grant you that,
but he is the best coach we've had since Roach.
He was coaching the spread before anyone knew what it was, and his defenses were aggressive and solid. He was a far better head coach than DC. He didnt schedule teams against lousy smaller programs, and went on to be very successful as a head coach in Purdue. DC is NOT on that trajectory at present.
DC is currently .464, his schedules have NOT included Utah, BYU, or TCU every year. His defenses have given up more points than his offenses have scored-every single year he has coached.
DC has had five years-this is HIS program now, he lost to the worst team in the SUN conference, and has struggled to beat teams that haven't won more than 2 games all season..so far I can say this-this is NOT the kind of product you pay $2 million a year for.
