Patience is indeed a virtue. I agree we won't get anywhere if we churn through coaches (unless we hire another Vic Koenning)-but DC has had 5 years-its not as if he hasnt had a shot.
You need to know when to hold em, know when to fold em.
I disagree that we are seeing an upward trend, but the season is young. For the past three years we have been scheduling really bad teams to pad our record. We aren't alone in this, but it is nothing to pound our chest about, and these victories shouldnt indicate that we are on an upward trend.
We've also managed to lose to a piss poor cupcake every year under DC.
So far I see DC's body of work this season as a bad defense and a good offense beating three very bad teams and one bad team, and losing to one bad team and one good one. If this is an upward trend, it is only because DC has had worse years...
it is NOT an upward trend for the UW football program..
Yet I remain hopeful. USU is now damaged goods. If DC can beat Boise, then you will be proven right Kansascowboy -this is a good team that will be going to a good bowl and DC will have given us a season to be proud of, a season to remember. I'm not saying we have to beat Freson...but if we dont beat Boise, then you must admit...we are mediocre. We've beaten no one, and we've lost to crappy teams..
Joe Tiller was not one of the greats, I'll grant you that,
but he is the best coach we've had since Roach.
He was coaching the spread before anyone knew what it was, and his defenses were aggressive and solid. He was a far better head coach than DC. He didnt schedule teams against lousy smaller programs, and went on to be very successful as a head coach in Purdue. DC is NOT on that trajectory at present.
DC is currently .464, his schedules have NOT included Utah, BYU, or TCU every year. His defenses have given up more points than his offenses have scored-every single year he has coached.
DC has had five years-this is HIS program now, he lost to the worst team in the SUN conference, and has struggled to beat teams that haven't won more than 2 games all season..so far I can say this-this is NOT the kind of product you pay $2 million a year for.
