This thread is a pile of shit. We go out there and contain the #1 rushing offense in the country to get the win and you guys are calling for heads to roll? Good god some Wyo fans are too demanding.

Wyoming didn't contain anything . They gave up 31 points.

AND we almost lost!!!!!!!!!!!

The tackling is an absolute fucking embarrassment. That last touchdown UNM got was probably the worst tackle I've ever seen.

They had four guys in position to make the stop, not one of them wrapped their arms around the ball carrier or even attempted to wrap him up. Stanton and Hayes looked like they were trying not to get any tackle on them. Huff just stood there and watched as if he was waiting for a chance to strip the ball.

It's never to late to teach fundaments.

Start putting these guys through some fundamental tackling drills until they drop dead from exhaustion. We're a damn embarrassment on defense.

We held this team who averaged in the upper 300 rushing yards to 256. Carrier had hardly 100 yards. And UNM came into the game avging 38 a game. We sure as he'll contained enough to get the win.

What happened to if we when by 30 or by one I'll be happy cause we'll be 2-0 in conf play?

They just need to keep winning. Everyone knew in the off-season that the front of the schedule was easy, and the back would be tough. Wyoming will be underdogs in almost every game going forward except for obviously CSU, UH, and possibly USU/SJSU. The latter two UW will probably be slight underdogs.

Lol Wyoming will be the underdog in all but CSU, UH, USU, and SJSU?
So in other words, Wyoming will be the favorite in all but 2 of their games?

The initial spread was way too high to begin with. This isn't the UNM pregram we're used to. Davie is turning that program around, they will be challenging championships in the next few years. We played calm and strong and did what we needed to win.

Hell I'm so used to mediocrity that I don't know the difference anymore, after all we're in that group of teams that don't matter anyway....I'll sure take the win, BUT, we hafta play a full 60 next week and let's slaughter some sheeeep

Even if the POKES win today the game might feel like a loss.

Speaking for myself I am so tired of this same script over and over and over again.

I and others complain sometimes about attendance issues? How can you excite a fan base with continued mediocrity?

On defense are these the worst of the best players we could find in high school?

I hate the 'fire everyone' mantra, and I use it myself sometimes...but my goodness at what point is enough enough?

At what point does mediocrity become unacceptable to the administration?

Lastly, they look horrible today...win - or lose.

You complain about attendance and you weren't at the fricken game?

Diddo. I think we have the players, but not the coaches

Sorry but you can't blame the coaches for everything. Players have to hold up their end as well.
We have a coach that's on record as saying he doesn't veer from a pre-game script. Call it what you will, but I read that as "I don't make in-game adjustments, I just obstinately stick to what I put together before the actual game, it's up to the players to figure it out for themselves..."

Saying it's not the coaching is like claiming altitude has no effect on our kick-return stats...

Most of the coordinators in football script at minimum the first 15 plays. It is almost like you know absolutely nothing about college football.

How about the head coach at North Dakota State?

You think you'd remember, joe Glenn won a championship and continued the dynisty at Montana before we nabbed him. You know how that turned out right. 31-40, 1 winning season. 1 bowl game. The rest, pathetic. You all that want to keep this shit up week after week really suck. And it's apparent if you aren't happy with cowboy football now, you hardly ever have been.

Christensen has never had a season where his team scored more than its defense gave up...
Glenn did that twice, and Glen won a meaningful bowl game, and he beat Tennessee. He played in a conference with Utah, BYU and TCU and had nearly as good a record as DC, and he wasnt good enough.

I have been a cowboy fan for a long, long time. If you are a fan, look up your roots; Bowden WYatt, Bob DeVaney, Lloyd Eaton, Pat Dye, Paul Roach, Joe TIller...played against Arizona, Arizona State, LSU-and we were nationally ranked many many times.
We never played (let alone lost to) San Luis Obispo and Toledo. So forgive some of us old farts for not joining in the euphoria just yet. We love to see our Pokes win-any time. I would love to see us win 8 this year and be bowl eligible. But even if we did, I would hardly put DC among the best coaches at UW. Not in Tiller's league-approximately the same as Glenn, and a hell of a lot better than Dimel or Koenning...I would admit he's earned another year
But the expectations of this program are so shriveled...so small...and its achievements are so hollow at present...that it just doesn't compare...do your research...it just doesn't

I never stated that DC should be up with the greats. And please, Mediocre Joe Tiller was definitely not one of the greats. He just had one great season. You take that away and he was 29-28-1. I was stating that we need to stop making changes every five or six years. WYO will never gain any ground if we keep changing. Some of the best examples of programs that succeeded by being patient: off the top of my head is Virginia Tech. Frank Beamer had six straight losing seasons before they began winning. The rest is history, he put VT on the map and is known as one of the better coaches in the country. DC has shown he has us on an upward trend to being the same kind of program. I will laugh when all the pieces fit this year , and everyone complaining about having to watch a mediocre program, and thinks 6/7 wins is all we can muster was actually watching one of those 9/10 win teams they've always wanted. But then the season will be wasted cause you complained your way all the way through the good ( not mediocre) year.

I think I'll remain optimistic. When was the last time we had an offense that avg 310 passing yards and 209 rushing yards at the same time? That's right 519 yards per game! That's 37.6 points a game. Any after ALL the freaking years of subpar to mediocre offense we finally have something. And when we finally to what comes up from most of you? "I'm sick of this arena football style offense." "I'm sick of us doing the option read." I got news for you, the option read is what gave us a 100 yard RB and a 100 yard QB yesterday. It's what has got us avging 209 a game. Look at your stats. Look at your facts, then let the shit fly from your mouths.

Patience is indeed a virtue. I agree we won't get anywhere if we churn through coaches (unless we hire another Vic Koenning)-but DC has had 5 years-its not as if he hasnt had a shot.

You need to know when to hold em, know when to fold em.

I disagree that we are seeing an upward trend, but the season is young. For the past three years we have been scheduling really bad teams to pad our record. We aren't alone in this, but it is nothing to pound our chest about, and these victories shouldnt indicate that we are on an upward trend.
We've also managed to lose to a piss poor cupcake every year under DC.
So far I see DC's body of work this season as a bad defense and a good offense beating three very bad teams and one bad team, and losing to one bad team and one good one. If this is an upward trend, it is only because DC has had worse years...
it is NOT an upward trend for the UW football program..

Yet I remain hopeful. USU is now damaged goods. If DC can beat Boise, then you will be proven right Kansascowboy -this is a good team that will be going to a good bowl and DC will have given us a season to be proud of, a season to remember. I'm not saying we have to beat Freson...but if we dont beat Boise, then you must admit...we are mediocre. We've beaten no one, and we've lost to crappy teams..

Joe Tiller was not one of the greats, I'll grant you that,
but he is the best coach we've had since Roach.

He was coaching the spread before anyone knew what it was, and his defenses were aggressive and solid. He was a far better head coach than DC. He didnt schedule teams against lousy smaller programs, and went on to be very successful as a head coach in Purdue. DC is NOT on that trajectory at present.

DC is currently .464, his schedules have NOT included Utah, BYU, or TCU every year. His defenses have given up more points than his offenses have scored-every single year he has coached.

DC has had five years-this is HIS program now, he lost to the worst team in the SUN conference, and has struggled to beat teams that haven't won more than 2 games all season..so far I can say this-this is NOT the kind of product you pay $2 million a year for.

The landscape of college football couldn't be more different now than the early WAC days with Arizona and ASU. Enjoy those memories but saying if we did it then we should be doing now is a little off. Look I want a #1 ranked Wyoming as much as everyone else but it also takes time. Maybe a little perspective is needed when saying things like that....
