And the saga continues!

So Blalock gets to add his name to the list of people that look like idiots in all this. What kind of moron sends an email to discuss that when it is clearly subject to disclosure. Never heard of picking up a telephone or did he not have the guts to talk to Burman? Unbelievable. That has to be the most chicken____ email i've read.

As for the CST, they do indeed have an axe to grind. Glenn spent too much time talking to press and supporters and not enough time in practice and it hurt him. When DC arrived he sought to change that. Local press, especially the Trib and Schmotz got butt hurt about it. Now they had to actually do work instead of just print press releases. They saw Howdy Doody-gate as their opportunity for payback. But instead of just going after DC they are going after the entire athletic department. I doubt anyone tipped them off about the emails, its just common sense that Burman was probably receiving emails from donors etc about DC and they went fishing.

DC made a mistake, but he apologized. But everyone else KEEPS making mistakes or is intentionally hurting the program for personal reasons. Stupid. DC got in trouble for complaining about the fake injury. He went way over the top, but the basis was legit. If you look at ather MWC boards, their fans are commending DC for finally having the balls to call AFA on their crap. The ram fans are happy that we are discussing firing DC because they CANT beat him.

Legally, the university took its action against DC when they fined and suspended him. If they fire him now.... its the full buy out folks. Get your checkbooks ready. Plus you then have to hire a new coach, with even more money. But now you have an AD with a history of acting in bad faith, and your own media is hostile. Good luck finding a good coach. As for me...I'll stick with Christiansen. I couldnt care less if he has no personality, in fact I prefer it. I want my coaches, my politicians and my doctors to be boring people. That way I listen to what they say, not the way they are saying it. However, got to get a new defensive coordinator. That was awful!

Go Pokes!!

Why is there this seeming rush to accuse the CST of having any ulterior motive for doing nothing more than what a newspaper is supposed to do?

Fredrickson has been in Casper all of 5 minutes -- and already he has a personal vendetta against Christensen?

Some of you sound juvenile as well as naive.

From one media member to another, allow me to (after being critical in regard to the lack of critical thinking by both newspapers) send a note of congrats to the CST staff for investigating something that needed to be unearthed, for public consumption absolutely, and for doing the legwork necessary in finding out all it could in regard to the still brewing fiasco.

With that said, the future of this program with DC as its face is very much in question -- and I arrive at that conclusion more confidently given the terrific job of investigative journalism on behalf of the CST staff.

As much as I would hope that DC is able to rebound from this mess and push it behind him, at this juncture it should be obvious to anyone that it may not be possible.

What I love about this sequence of events as reported by the CST staff, is that there is a passion, there is a wanting amongst people who work hard to see dollars funneled to the football program, it is obvious they are disgusted, they too (like many of us) apparently are tiring of mediocrity at The War, and the heat is rising to insure that WYO Football is more than 2-3 bright seasons in 10. We should all applaud that.

What I also love is that those behind the scenes raising cash are as tired as a lot of us are in regard to the commitment to our state and to the University...these folks appear disgusted that Christensen (if it is true) is lukewarm on being here in The Cowboy State -- that they want an individual more than bullish on Wyoming, on Laramie, on a football program that can be raised to not only MWC championship status, but a program that can achieve a Top 25 ranking as well. Good for them -- if this is there mindset I give them not only two big thumbs up but my complete support as well.

A buyout at the conclusion of this season of DC's pact should surprise nobody -- with an immediate search to find a coach who wants to be in Wyoming for at least the next 10 years.

Lastly, once again I applaud the CST, thank you for doing something that many here (including myself) have been begging independent media endeavors to do -- yet at the same time allow me to apologize to the CST for some boxes of rocks here who likewise wanted more independent & critical thinking -- who now that it is being done -- criticize the very thing they have been hoping for.

Go Pokes.

This will be another BS situation just like the Tiller one... If this continues it will show Wyoming is nothing more than a second rate school. My god DC has said over and over he was sorry for what he did and said. How many times have we seen that an athelete can go out and make a mistake and we as a society says give them another chance because they deserve it....how is this any different...BS BS BS.. I dare to say if DC is fired we will not find anyone I mean no body in his right mind will come to Wyoming to coach for us... this is laughable.
Usually when an athlete screws up and apologizes, the organization forgives him and they go on. Unless the athlete isn't doing so well. At which point they get rid of them, don't re-sign them, etc. If DC had this rant and was having another 8-4 season, there probably wouldn't be so much critisism. If we were on our way to 11-1 or 10-2 it'd probably almost be none from the fan base. This is not the case.

As far as who would take the HC position at Wyoming? Almost everyone associated with college football that is not presently a HC. The exceptions might be the def. coord. at USC or others in similar positions (older guys making the same pay or higher and are not looking for more stress). But almost everyone else would jump at the chance to take on an FBS program.

What a great job reporting. Or could it be called digging up dirt, for no other reason than to generate readership & subscriptions? I get it, that is (in reality) the only reason media exists these days! Death, murder, drugs, rape, negativety, flood, more death, war, earthquake, 95 degrees, have a great day. Misery loves company, and the current substance of our media outlets live and thrive on that negative shit. Further, as a fan of everything UW, I don't agree "reporting" like this does any good, toward a school / program / community, that I love and support.

Shame on Ben, shame on Tom. Did nobody tell those fuckers that as employees of the state, that anything they put in an e mail is of public record? That is just unreal. And just how did Frederickson (or whatever his name is) REALLY know to contact UW legal and ask? Hmmmmm. Maybe Casper really does have an axe to grind.

:willybs:

I see no reason why this article was written. It was water under the bridge. So somebody in the fundraising dept was angry? Big fucking deal! I think a lot of people were angry. Let it go.

I really question the overall intelligence of many of you insufferable morons here.

Some of you people have no conception and or understanding of the issue...hurry up and head over to Walmart because they have a huge sale on brains this week -- get over there and purchase one.

Good grief.

If I ever meet some of you dumb-asses at a game...remind me to smack some sense into many of you.

Get fucking bent Dino!

Wow, no tolerance for different opinions eh? Maybe we should just all listen to Dino and then we would know everything! I'm probably not the only one that wouldn't mind if you took you and your fucking show out of Wyoming.

Why won't you just go away. Nobody likes you. Get a clue, and leave!

You do understand that with what you write and how you write it, it just fuels the fire, which is back drafting against you? Call everyone on here stupid and then expect us to listen to a damn thing you have to say? Really? I think you need to work on your people skills, and writing skills as well...

By the way, I would love to meet you at a game. Especially with that attitude of yours. I think I'd have a little fun before game time.

LOL. So somebody disagrees with you (or a lot of people do) and they become insufferable morons, that need to go to Walmart and buy a brain, because they are dumb-asses, that you want to "smack some sense into"????

You are making an idiot out of yourself here once again, and trashing the very amendment (number one in case you forgot) you so vehemently defend here on a regular basis. I don't know what you are trying to sell...whether it is listeners or whatever, but it isn't working in this forum.

Get bent.

I think the point many are making Doc is that the trib printed an inflamatory story that wasnt really newsworthy. The Trib did get ahold of some emails that had some juicy gossip in them with Blaylock calling DC some names. How does that add anything to the story? Is the Trib now the new National Inquirer? Gossip column? That article was printed solely for the purpose hurting the University and trying to further hurt DC. They arent trying to report news, they are trying to influence it now.

I don't think they purposely printed the article so late to tarnish the University. It says in the fourth paragraph that the FOIA requested info was released on the 2nd, so they printed this when they had a chance to look over the information and put an article together.

This is a nice piece of reporting by the CST. I wish as a fan they would have just swept it under the rug, but their duty is to report the news. It's not their fault that it took so long for the information to be released.

But is "news" also considered "dirt"? Ultimately, one must determine what TRULY is news and what isn't.

I don't see any problem with what the CST reported.

Some of you that have a problem with the article need to get out and see the world a little bit more. It's about time someone in the state of Wyoming started doing some reporting instead of trying to walk on egg shells and worry about what "everyone" thinks.

Out here in Pac -12 country the coaches get ripped on in newspapers and on radio and tv all the time when they are not doing their job or they get involved in something that doesn't reflect well on them.

I don't really see the big deal with the CST doing their job.

Come on people buck up. This isn't intramurals it is division 1 football! :thumb:

Also one other note that I picked up from reading the article is that it seems to me that Christensen apologized because he was caught on camera more so than because he was really sorry. Just my opinion.

Some of you won't agree with me but I'm not going to walk on eggshells to voice my opinion

Yes, it is Div 1, but that goes both ways. Do people think there isnt unbelievable swearing by coaches at every other university? Or are people just upset because DC's was on youtube? Christiansen apologized to everyone. Why not move on? It appears the only ones that wont move on is the media. Is DC not truely sorry? I'm sure he is sorry about the way her reacted and when and where, but I doubt he is sorry for calling out Calhoun, and he shouldnt be. Why isnt the Trib running an article about the underlying cause of this all?

Ultimately the Blaylock article puts DC in good legal position. If the University fires him now, DC can point to those emails and say that the University never inteded to pay him the full five years and thus negotiated in bad faith.

I'm sure "most" everyone knows there is swearing in football but most coaches don't berate other coaches like that on the field of play. They usually do it behind closed doors. You might be right about his contract. I'm not a lawyer so I don't know. No matter what happens hopefully we can win the rest of our games and it will help us forget this whole mess.

Honestly after reading those emails it seems like the University doesn't really like having to pay that much for a coach. Makes it seem like they would be happy just paying 500k a year to someone and getting a .500 record. I don't really have that much confidence in the University and the athletic department after reading those emails but I am glad they were made public knowledge if for no other reason than now we know how the athletic department feels about putting money into getting good coaches.
Sounds like they were hoping to not have to pay that much for very long.

Oh well, I'm moving on to basketball where I think we can be more competitive anyways.
