After reading up on everything and doing a bit of reading between the lines it looks like Bohl didn't like Will having a job in addition to playing football. As a walk-on he needed a job. Will wanted to get a scholarship so he wouldn't have to work. When they didn't offer him one it sounded like he was still willing to stay as a walk-on and continue working but Bohl didn't want someone with a job on the team because it cuts on the time to focus on football so he kicked him off the team. I don't have an opinion on if Will should have been given a scholarship or not but thought in 2014 he played really well and thought he could have deserved one after last season. This year he didn't do much but sounds like he had some injury issues.
Its also up to Bohl if he wants players on the team to have jobs or not but if they are walk-ons what else are they supposed to do. Thats the concerning part for me. With all the talk about building a strong walk-on program and getting local kids to walk-on and focus locally and build up the walk-on program like Nebraska, not allowing a local kid to walk-on(especially one who as contributed to the team), along with all the other walk-ons that left during the season raises some red flags for me.
