Allen going 3rd overall?

You have to know he has at least heard from projected draft round by now so we just have to wait and see how it pans out but this is a horrible QB draft and a lot of teams that need one.
This is the worrisome part about all of this.

And if by chance Minnesota were to pony up the $6.5 million, we could be looking at a total rebuild.

We sure like catastrophising about things. Bohl bought cattle because he always dreamed of having a ranch in Wyoming, he's getting state of the art upgrades, is in year four of a rebuild that almost won the conference title. I don't think he's trying to upgrade right now.

Allen is not likely to leave and it would suck for all parties if he did. If he is a first round talent this year after some of these boneheaded games he will still be a first round talent after he proves he can improve.

We are used to pouring on us at Wyo but I think this is not likely to happen.

You know you're a burgeoning G5 program when the popular message board is exploding with "[insert current head coach] to [insert every P5 opening]?" and "will [insert all great players] declare for the draft?" topics.

Wyoming has arrived! This is life going forward and it's so much better than the alternative.

Kinda like when we thought DC was going to Houston, and Alvester and Brett Smith declared for the draft?

WE KEEP ON ARRIVING!

Not at all the same. Alvester was an ok back that nobody thought was an NFL talent and has proven the choice to leave was ill thought out.

D.C. Was a coach with no prior experience and no track record. We didn't want him to leave but we would be crushed if Cb left. Brett declaring after the coaching change would hurt less then Allen leaving imo. Although I'll be the first to admit Brett leaving was a bummer.

I remember some ass clown asking DC about leaving at his first press conference

Maybe it means something. Maybe it means absolutely nothing, but FWIW...Josh Allen recently followed an NFL agent on Twitter.

Did anyone see what that Alabama football player who majored in finance did?

He would have been a 3rd-ish round pick after his JR year. Crunched all the numbers, and determined if he worked himself into the 1st round after his SR year he would make about 15-ish million more. (I can't remember the exact number)

His analysis should be put up in every single football facility across the country.

Allen should stay. He may be a high pick this year due to a weak class, but if he develops and learns, he may end up being just as high of a pick but actually making a long career instead of being a bust of a pick til his franchise drafts a new qb.

I guess all I can say is that the best or most successful QBs in the NFL all stayed in college for 3-5 years.
Quarterback in this season's playoffs:

Tom Brady--4 year at Michigan starting his last two years.
Russell Wilson--4 years at NC State 1 year at Wisconsin
Matt Ryan--5 years at Boston College
Ben Roethlisberger--4 years at Miami (OH) 1 redshirt left after is JR(RS) season
Derek Carr--5 years at Fresno St.
Dak Prescott--4 years at Mississippi State
Eli Manning-- 4 years at Ole Miss
3 years in college
Matthew Stafford-- 3 years at Georgia--SEC reps gain NFL type experience
Aaron Rodgers-- 1 year JC 2 Years at Cal--Sat for 3 years in GB learning from Brett Favre
Alex Smith-- 3 years at Utah--Weaker MW--took him while to adjust to the NFL game--not necessarily an elite QB
Brock Osweiler--3 years at Arizona St.--not an elite NFL QB
Ryan Tannehill--5 years at Texas A&M (2 years at WR)--not an elite NFL QB

Recent decent or great QBs and those who missed the playoffs this year but have done it before
Peyton Manning-- 4 years at Tennessee
Drew Brees--4 years at Purdue
Philip Rivers-- 4 years at NC State
Carson Palmer--5 years at USC
Andy Dalton-- 5 years at TCU
Joe Flacco--2 years at Pitt 2 years at Delaware

Up and coming QBs
Marcus Mariota-- 4 years at Oregon
Carson Wentz--5 years at North Dakota St.

I guess what it all comes down to is does Josh Allen want to play right away or sit on the bench for a while to learn and continue to develop with no guarantee that he'll actually make it. It's tough to learn to be a QB in the NFL. NFL defenses eat up inexperienced quarterbacks on a yearly basis. The best option is for Allen to stick around in Laramie for 2 more years and learn from Bohl and Company and then be ready to go in the first round in 2019.

Word is that Minnesota is looking at Les Miles for their head coaching vacancy. But like was said earlier, Bohl's wanted to have a cattle ranch in Wyoming for a long time, he has that now, I don't see him bolting for Minnesota.

Here's the latest scouting notebook from our favorite analyst at Bleacher Report Matt Miller.

Most importantly here is what he had to say on Josh.
—Scouting, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Take a look at these texts from competing scouts about Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen:
•"Tell him to go back to school. He has no business entering the draft yet."
•"Best traits in the QB group. That'll get you drafted high in this league. Can't see him slipping out of Round 1."

—Now imagine being Allen and having to make a decision based on information like this. I'm told by teammates close to the Wyoming quarterback that he's truly on the fence regarding his 2017 decision.

If there isn't a unanimous roar of approval then the gamble is not worth it.

He could be the next big thing and he's had moments of greatness at uw. Some of his throws were other worldly and som throws left you going "what the hell" for his sake and ours I want him to stay. Too bad that other kid left the team for playing time eh

I'm honestly not too worried even if Josh leaves. Tyler Vander Waal seems like a great candidate to continue moving this program forward as a true freshman (so we at least have him for 3 years). If Josh Allen feels this is in his best interest, then by all means.
