Air Force

NIU is hella bad. Historically awful.

If anyone takes anything from that win, other than good feels for a week and the realization that our conference is the hottest of burning garbage, they are a bit naive.

I hope we beat AFA. I don't think we will. AFA and NIU are nothing alike.

Unfortunately this is where I come down. NIU is probably a 3-9 team in FCS. But to our credit, we played/coached a good game and the offensive coaching staff wisely recognized that QB run was our safest bet to move the ball.

I don’t believe this coaching staff has instilled the discipline needed to defend Air Force. I could see some long Air Force drives really sucking the momentum away from us. Hope I am wrong.

Air Force 24 Wyoming 16

I'm basing this on the fact that Szarka is out and both teams hold the ball for a LONG time.
My experience with Air Force is that they are plug and play at the QB position. Loss of QB1 traditionally has less impact on them. Don’t get me wrong, Szarka is a great player. However, to that point, Air Force put up 41 points last week in a win over UNLV and QB2 rushed for 152 yards on 18 carries with 3 rushing TDs.

My experience is Air Force is also traditionally pretty good at maintaining their defensive assignments. NIU was absolutely awful in that area when it came to spying Hughes.

AFA will tie Hughes and our offense in knots. They will load the box and force him to throw. He can't. He is bad at it. Even if he wasn't, we have no receiving corps. Our defense will lose contain and allow two fairly long TD runs. AFA likely only passes the ball 5 or 6 times.

unfortunately this is likely what will happen

just finished listening to the pod. 1000% agree on the 24 team playoff. if they're going to do it, then they need to do it like the FCS. 10 conference winners with 14 at larges. thats plenty of cake for the SEC&big 10 to eat. although, under the proposed format, there's still a chance two G6 teams make it. tulane and north texas were both in the top 24 a year ago.

Watching him on passing downs is painful. He has no anticipation and seems unable to see downfield if his first option is covered. Our best hope is if Wyoming can force some turnovers, but you are probably right on what the likely outcome will be.
