You may be correct, after all, Sawful publicly stated this was his best defense in his 7 year tenure at Wyoming. As I said on the pod last night:

Unfortunately this is where I come down. NIU is probably a 3-9 team in FCS. But to our credit, we played/coached a good game and the offensive coaching staff wisely recognized that QB run was our safest bet to move the ball.NIU is hella bad. Historically awful.
If anyone takes anything from that win, other than good feels for a week and the realization that our conference is the hottest of burning garbage, they are a bit naive.
I hope we beat AFA. I don't think we will. AFA and NIU are nothing alike.
I'm basing this on the fact that Szarka is out and both teams hold the ball for a LONG time. You may be correct, after all, Sawful publicly stated this was his best defense in his 7 year tenure at Wyoming.
My experience with Air Force is that they are plug and play at the QB position. Loss of QB1 traditionally has less impact on them. Don’t get me wrong, Szarka is a great player. However, to that point, Air Force put up 41 points last week in a win over UNLV and QB2 rushed for 152 yards on 18 carries with 3 rushing TDs.I'm basing this on the fact that Szarka is out and both teams hold the ball for a LONG time.
AFA will tie Hughes and our offense in knots. They will load the box and force him to throw. He can't. He is bad at it. Even if he wasn't, we have no receiving corps. Our defense will lose contain and allow two fairly long TD runs. AFA likely only passes the ball 5 or 6 times. My experience with Air Force is that they are plug and play at the QB position. My experience is Air Force is also traditionally pretty good at maintaining their defensive assignments. NIU was absolutely awful in that area when it came to spying Hughes.
