AFC/NFC Championships & Superbowl

Brady? Really? Brady is an older (not more mature) version of Newton.

Well, hmm, I guess we'll agree to disagree on that. I'm no Brady fan, but his resume' is among the best QBs ever.

Either way, my guess is that Newton, or any QB would be elated to have a career like Brady.

No way this game was boring.
Von Miller forcing 2 fumbles, getting 2.5 sacks, Ware getting 2 sacks.
Peyton and Cam both threw picks.

A FG that bounced off the upright.
Cam throwing little temper tantrums on what he thought was roughing the passer.

The game was awesome!

I thought this was the best Super Bowl in a long long time. Great defense is always fun to watch. Better than the defenseless spread offense stuff. There was enough scoring to make it fascinating, but also a great chess match on defense on both sides. Sort of the Gunfight at the OK Corral .... young guns vs wily veterans.

If these two teams played this game 10 times, what would the standing be?

Will/can Bohl build a dominating defense? Offense is exciting, but defense wins.

Can't say I'm confident about Denver in Super Bowl 50. Carolina has done nothing all year but just obliterate teams. They score like a college offense.
Whoops.

I must say, Denver's defense was shockingly good. That said, this Seahawks fan wishes those refs had officiated our NFC playoff games. They did NOT allow Sherm, Thomas, etc. to play that physical. It was ticky-tack PI all galore.

Broncos fans, do you think Osweiler transitions into full-time starter? Or do they go a different route? All assuming Peyton is done.

I'm not a Broncos fan, but I'd guess they stick with Brock, mostly cause there isn't enough money to go around and get a big name guy while also locking up key guys on D. However, Matt Stafford will probably hit free agency and he would be outstanding in Denver I think

This Super Bowl was boring. Loved the Seattle-Denver Super Bowl and the Saints-Colts one as well. Playoff Payton played those games. Sadly "he" never showed up yesterday.

Absolutely agree. As someone that didn't have much invested in either team, it was very ho-hum. It would be something if 2 great defenses were shutting down 2 great QBs. But both QBs looked like shit all game, Cam overthrew a lot of open receivers and Peyton can barely throw a ball further than I could throw him. Both defenses came to play, but the offenses looked terrible.

Credit to Peyton for finishing the season and getting another ring, but I really hope this is his last game; I always admired his play, but he has looked downright bad this season, I don't like seeing one of the best playing like that.

Thanks.

I do hope Peyton does retire now or the question of him taking HGH, even if the rumor isn't true, will dog him all of the next season (or seasons) he plays.

Me, too. I don't want to see him perish on the football field.

What came first.. the QBs playing like shit because of the defenses (#1 and #7 defenses), or the defenses looking good because of the shit QB play? I think your answer is probably closer to the first one.

Read my post "cam overthrew a lot of open receivers and Peyton can barely throw a ball..." Those things don't have anything to do with defense. I agree that both defenses are very good, but neither QB performed poorly solely because of the D.

Why was Cam overthrowing? Hurried passes? Nerves? Trying to do too much? I'm sure someone like PFF has the stat out there, but it'd be curious to see how much time the QBs averaged to throw the ball. I'm guessing about 2.3 seconds.. maybe less.

If you thought the Seahawks-Broncos SB was a good game and the Broncos-Panthers SB was a boring game, then you are clearly just anti-Denver. And that's fine, but don't pretend a game that was over after the first snap and just got progressively worse was a good competitive game.

I loved the Seattle-Denver game partly because I hate Peyton (& his brother Eli) and I really REALLY hate Denver's current logo.

BTW, GO SEAHAWKS!!!!

I didn't know a single Seahawk fan until about 4 years ago

You know two of them - myself and J-Rod.

Liked them since around 1983.

That's how I was in 1998, only knew a few Broncos fans up to January 25th, but suddenly they came out of the wood work on January 26th.
