AFC/NFC Championships & Superbowl

The only thing weak about the Panthers D is their secondary but those linebackers make up for the secondary being suspect. I don't think Denver can win this game if they get behind but if they can keep it to a 1-2 score game they have a chance.

Panthers offense is legit and they seem to score at will. Denver on the other hand have problems and it will only take one problem to lose the Superbowl.
The secondary may be the weakest part of that team, but they are far from being weak. They are the only team with more interceptions than touchdowns thrown against them. Playing with the lead nearly every game may have skewed their passing yards against to put them at 11th, but the rest of the stats say they are a premier secondary.

Denver will probably be humiliated. Manning will barely get a chance to throw since he can't move very well out of the pocket. Except for the uniform colors, you will be watching the 2015 Pokes on offense.

So humiliating winning the Superbowl.

I thought Carolina had the better chance on this one. I was rooting for Denver to win it though. The Carolina Defense is brutal. Cam Newton and his offense is even more potent.

It was a defensive game in and out. Those are by far the funnest to watch IMHO.

Well, I guess when a team does stop the end zone dancing, Newton becomes a spoiled brat... needs to grow up and act like a professional. Classless. Throws himself to the ground on a missed field goal .... just like my 3 year old grandson who doesn't get his way.

BTW, I thought wearing a mouth guard was a requirement. Looked like Newton was chewing blue gum all game long. Seems a bit of a potential choking hazard, not to mention little protection for the mouth and teeth.

Boring game in my opinion, Next year hopefully it's my Cardinals turn for Larry and Carson, and Honey Badger

Defense wins championships.

Absolutely. And even more to the point - it can keep you in every game.

Something we are lacking here at Wyoming...and have lacked for years.

Lots are saying how this is the worst Super Bowl ever. I actually like a good defensive battle. Eliminate all the penalties would be the only thing to make it better, IMO.

Pressure and speed kills. If you have speed/pressure up front (and especially from the LBs) and a secondary that covers, there aren't many offenses (if any) that can deal with that.

I would have picked Carolina, but as I said above, the Denver D was the wild-card in picking this game. They dominated. Congrats to Denver and all their fans. I enjoyed the game.

As the game moved on and Cam got more rattled the Broncos started sending more guys.. got to him with three, then they started sending four.. by the time the game was over they were sending 6-7 guys every play. Cam had no chance.. he was done after the first quarter.

Before the game, Shula said this of Denver D:
The sign of a good defense is when they show you a lot of looks—and they’re good at all of them.

I hadn't watched the Broncos much until the playoffs. I love Wade Phillips D. Diverse looks and attacking.

Congrats to Denver. Must be nice. -A Vikings fan

LOL I believe Carolina is the first 15-1 team to play in the Super Bowl and lose.

EDIT: Just did some research and found out I was right. Carolina is the first 15-1 team to lose in the Super Bowl. BTW, the last 15-1 squad to win it all....the 1985 Bears. LOL

At the risk of derailing a thread, anyone study the Denver D this year? It looks like primarily a 3-4 but definitely some 4-3 looks in there as well. The other thing was it looks like a zone in the secondary but they also man up while playing in a zone which makes it harder to find soft spots.

That was just me watching a few games and having a few beers at the same time. Denver fans that have watched a lot of the games, give us a rundown on the defensive scheme. Obviously Elway got a lot of speed on that side of the ball, but the scheme was also very good.

Defensive battles with nothing but punts are boring. This one was pretty exciting with all the turnovers

Scam Newton is a talented, spoiled, prima-donna and he got schooled in this game. Put his talent with the right attitude, poise, and maturity, and he could be the best QB in the NFL.

He'll continue to get heat from failing to go after the fumble and his post-game comments, so I definitely get the point about attitude.

Still, his stat line was fairly similar to Brady against the Bronco D. I'm not sure attitude, poise, and maturity would have done much for him. The Denver D is just that good.

Brady? Really? Brady is an older (not more mature) version of Newton.

No way this game was boring.
Von Miller forcing 2 fumbles, getting 2.5 sacks, Ware getting 2 sacks.
Peyton and Cam both threw picks.

A FG that bounced off the upright.
Cam throwing little temper tantrums on what he thought was roughing the passer.

The game was awesome!
