And then cut a ton of women's sports, since they would wildly outnumber men's scholarships if this happened.This is why I suspect that it would require splitting out football and men's basketball into some university affiliated entity that is considered separate from the university but still has university associated branding. This would allow for football and men's basketball to operate under a different set of rules and regulations as professionals, while allowing many (or at least some) of the other sports to continue to operate under an amateur model directly through the university.
