26th President of UW will be??

Another round of presidential selection. What do you think? As always, a new president can have a significant impact on the future of the University.

I wonder if it will be an outside person or a "WYO person"?

Hopefully it will be the best person regardless of if they are an "outsider" or "a wyoming person".

Sternburg* may have ended up being a jackass but I hated the argument that the reason he failed was he didn't understand Wyoming and we need someone who gets us. We aren't really that unique. Are there things that make this job and state different from others that you need to be aware of, Sure. And we need to get someone who embraces that but it isn't something that is uniqely Wyoming. Get the person best qualified for the job. And someone who understands the importance of athletics to a University.

Probably couldn't happen, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying to poach Kustra from BSU. Aside from athletics, he hasn't done a terrible job of trying to increase their academic side, either.

He makes about 380K straight salary (no idea on his other benefits).

Like I said, I doubt it could happen, but could you imagine the meltdown in Boise if we somehow did

Whomever the next UW president is, keep in mind they work for the Board of Trustees and they have an agenda that is not necessarily embraced by the whole of the university community. The next person in the job will have the unenviable task of satisfying two opposing constituencies. Good luck with that.

Sternberg?

Either way, Wyoming hasn't had a president with the vision and style of Dubois...well...since Dubois. And although some of you hated (me included) the color change thing he instituted, his logic made complete sense.

somebody that came from a hotbed of collegiate sports, and knows what it takes to make the decisions necessary to be a factor from time to time

And still does, IMO. I love the brown and gold, tradition, and all the rest of that. However, catering to a bunch of old farts is not the best approach to branding the University.

oops. Yeah I meant Sternburg. Mcginnty seems like an OK guy. Need to edit my post.

We already got to witness how quick a president that wants to make changes at Wyoming will last. Expect a good ole Wyoming boy with no expectations that the other good ole boys can control.

Sadly, this seems likely.

Honestly, I'm not sure Sternberg approached that correctly. Change isn't always bad, but I think Sternberg's approach to change could have been better.
