25-26 Basketball Roster

Well. That is an awesome name at least.
Anyone else underwhelmed? Considering there are 2000 players in the portal, together with incoming HS frosh players, I would think that we might have a shot to upgrade. That said, everyone needs players it seems and most will keep their powder dry until the bitter end and only commit when they think they have to do so. Every player fancies themself the next, great Florida or Duke forward I guess.

We had 10 scholarships to fill. Some of those signees are bound to be depth players.

I wouldn't say this is a bad get. Top 100 juco. Averaged a double double from the wing this year. He has athleticism and shot 40% from 3. There have been worse players that we have brought in. Looks like he has a motor and tries to dunk everything. He was recruited by New Mexico State. When I dug a little deeper I was pleasantly surprised. I think he matches what Wicks will want. High motor and gritty.

"Top 100 Juco." This is the link to the Top 100 list.

Jucorecruting.com ranked him #29 amongst JUCO players. Typically, the top 15-20 JUCO players are fairly safe bets to be consistent contributors at mid to high major programs. After that, it becomes a lot more hit and miss.

Casper College had the #4 ranked JUCO in the country in Abdul Bashir. He is committed to play for Bruce Pearl and Auburn.

No offense meant for the two players who are transferring in but they do not appear to be an upgrade to who was on the team last season. I am holding out hope that the best is yet to come.

6.7 points and just under two rebounds per game. Playing in a meh league. I hope the real players are just waiting to commit…
He also only had 18 turnovers after playing in every game this season. He's a facilitator, not a scorer. We haven't had a PG like that since Grabau. How many times did we all bemoan the turnover problems over the past 4 seasons? This is the first step in solving those.

I highly recommend you find some highlights of Hammer. That guy is AGGRESSIVE around the rim. He also averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds per game. He's a high level rebounder, has good sense for shot blocking, and when he finishes at the rim he more often than not dunks it. He's going to be a big contributor this year.

Well that is welcomed news. Seems New Mexico (new HC), UNLV (new HC) and CSewe (new HC) are all kicking our ass in the portal right now.
I can no longer get excited until I see the product performance. So worn out being enticed by hype. Same goes for the other schools where I hope they flounder in mediocrity so we have a chance to look better. It’s just been a long frequently disappointing ride for the past 22 years with every promise shredded within 1 season of the emergence of hope.

Signing players does not equal kicking our ass. There are still a TON of players in the portal that are looking at their options. Lots of hold outs due to NIL, which is keeping more players on the radar of larger programs. Sunny has his work cut out for him to build a good roster.

This announcement makes me think that Dominic Pangonis (who got released from his NIL when Linder left) may be back in the fold. Had a decent season with Stephen F. Austin last year.
