You are right. Bad info I received. Sounds like he got hurt and never recovered. Would be a good PS squad candidate thoughI though I saw Muma got cut?
That is wild but seems like they need OL depth based on who they signed.Saints waived Welch
He will be re-signed to the practice squad I bet. That is wild but seems like they need OL depth based on who they signed.
The unfortunate reality with NIL. Way fewer Wyoming grads in the NFL. May be a few players who started their careers here. This list is getting thinner and thinner every year.
Sadly I don't think it is overly pessimistic to say that if the rules stay the way they are, we may never see a player drafted directly from Wyoming to the NFL again. Maybe a 7th rounder every couple years. The unfortunate reality with NIL. Way fewer Wyoming grads in the NFL. May be a few players who started their careers here.
I'm shocked too. I think the indictment in coaching is on sawful, but the old bald coach needed to keep his stink finger away from Cowboy football.I am shocked that Svoboda made the Chargers practice squad. I suppose that in a way is another indictment of the Coaches at Wyoming. They did not realize what his position should be until his last year.
Evan was good on special teams, could get open, and played FB/TE so that is why he ended up there. I assume McDaniel and Harbaugh love the TE position since they signed another TE to their practice squad.I'm shocked too. It’s simple with Svoboda why he would get a look. It comes down to roster size numbers. He can be your third string tight end, special teamer and tush push specialist all with only taking up a single roster spot. So instead of 3 guys, you can have 1 guy and use the other roster spots elsewhere.
Who are his fans?
I mean, I wish him the best of luck chasing his dream but I can’t say I’m really a big ‘fan’ by any means. I was just stating that I won’t be surprised at all if he makes an NFL practice squad or even a roster given his physical tools and thus potential to meet a current NFL niche.
When I think of Svoboda as a Cowboy, I’ll probably always remember the guy who came in when Peasley missed a few snaps against Toledo and helped us win that bowl game and also the back up tight end who came in and threw an interception on the goal line leading to a loss to Air Force (which blame I place squarely on the incompetent Wyoming coaching staff because under no circumstance should Svoboda be throwing the ball in that situation). I’ll probably also remember the fact that he stayed on the team and tried to help in other ways after losing his starting QB spot when we see a lot of guys pack up and leave in similar situations. Had Wyoming had a competent coaching staff the past few years (ie a staff that limited his QB use to the correct situations and took advantage of his tools versus exposing his deficiencies), perhaps he would have a more favorable Wyoming playing ‘legacy.’
WHAT? Bohl didn't put the QBs talents in the best position and forced them to adhere to a complicated playbook?I did respect Svoboda's loyalty and willingness to change positions/play on special teams. He was just not properly evaluated and put into bad situations.
