That seems wild. We are very similar type of programs you would think we would have a few series in the last 60 years

Mother-son ties close for Wyoming's Hill (WyoSports.net)

SAN DIEGO — If you told Brian Hill he was a mama’s boy, he more than likely would give you a wry smile and say “thank you.”

“She’s been my everything,” Hill said. “Growing up, whenever I had a problem, that’s who I went to. She’d give me an answer. If she didn’t have an answer, she’d do everything in her power to get the answers to me.

“Having her is really important to me. I’m so grateful for it.”

Bohl, Wyoming see benefits in longer season (WyoSports.net)

“Football is fun, regardless of how many games you play,” UW senior middle linebacker Lucas Wacha said. “As (coach Craig Bohl) said, it’s a game played by men. It’s a tough game, and it will kill you if you let it. You just have to stay positive, take it one day at a time and keep working as hard as you can.”

“Getting to a game like this is about enjoying it, and I hope they understand all the hard work that went into that,” Bohl said. “And they’re still doing football. No matter what position you play, if you’re a younger player, getting in extra practices is helpful.

BYU rivalry familiar to Wyoming fans, but not to players (Brandon Foster)

Even for players like Logan Wilson, who grew up in Wyoming, knowledge of the defunct rivalry is slim.

"I didn't take as much notice of the rivalry, because I was a little younger, so I didn't follow it as much as some people probably would've," said Wilson, a freshman from Natrona County. "So I don't really know a whole lot about it. This year, I'm starting to get a little more feel that it was a pretty nasty rivalry back in the day."

Though no current Cowboys have participated in the rivalry, BYU has four players who were on the roster in 2010. Because many participate in missions before completing their football careers, Cougars tend to be older than a traditional college athlete.

"You've got 26-, 27-year-olds, and we've got kids straight out of high school," sophomore nose tackle Sidney Malauulu said.

TURELLI'S TAKE: Last practice and fun at SeaWorld (WyoSports.net)

Offensive line coach Scott Fuchs appeared to be having a blast with his family at SeaWorld, arguably the best time out of anyone -- children included. The splash zone was no test for him as he absorbed water shots from dolphins and whales alike. I hope the rest of the team saw that and can bring that same resiliency to the upcoming game with BYU.

Scott D. Pierce: ESPN analyst witnessed BYU-Wyoming animosity (Salt Lake Tribune)

ESPN's Kelly Stouffer knows a little something about the BYU-Wyoming rivalry — more than most of the current students at either school, given that the Cougars and the Cowboys haven't met since 2010.

"It is kind of a flashback to some really good days of the past," said the former Colorado State quarterback, who will do color commentary on ESPN's telecast of the Poinsettia Bowl on Wednesday at 7 p.m. "Obviously, you got used to seeing BYU and Wyoming play some really amazing games along the way."

"This was actually a pretty heated rivalry back in the day," Stouffer said. "I think that, on the TV side, our challenge is to re-introduce people to that. There's a lot of history here."

Both Wyoming, BYU like to establish the running game (WyoSports.net)

“They like to use multiple fronts and will change their coverages,” UW offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brent Vigen said. “They also like to bring pressure, and they’re big. This will be the biggest front seven we’ve faced this season.”
