Once again, Wyoming has to move past poor defensive showing with San Diego State looming (trib.com)

"I think they do what they do," Stanard said of the Aztecs. "And I think they’re going to say, ‘Hey, we need to execute better than we did against them last time. There’s always issues when you watch the film that we’ve got to get corrected that they’re going to watch on film that they’re going to come back and attack.

"I think if you go in saying, ‘Hey, we’re just going to do the same thing we did because we had success the last game,' it can be a real mistake. So we have to tweak some things and make sure we give them enough challenges (that are) different than last time we played them, because they’re going to prepare for what we did this last time."

"I have coached long enough, and I think anybody in coaching in football recognizes that it's really an acknowledgement of the coaching staff and the effort," Bohl said. "It's been, up to this point, a great year. We expect it to be great. From that standpoint, I want to accept that on behalf of our coaches and our players."

"Those guys, certainly in my mind, deserve that recognition," Bohl said. "They've shown the ability to make plays in a lot of games, and some guys have numbers to back those things up. Chase, it's pretty hard to have numbers there, but I think he's certainly a good player. That's a good place to be, and it's good that the media and my peers acknowledge those guys."

Wyoming, San Diego State hardly need refresher on each other (WyoSports.net)

“You can focus more on what they did to you more than what they’ve done against other teams, especially as recent as it is,” UW offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brent Vigen said. “We’ll look at (San Diego State’s 63-31 home loss to) Colorado State as well. But we’ll also go back to what got us to our plan in the first place.”

Added UW senior wide receiver Tanner Gentry: “It’s going to be a lot of the same concepts from two weeks ago. I assume they’re not going to change up their whole system.

“Us beating them already gives us a great deal of confidence. I know beating a team twice is tough, but we did it once, and we can do it again.”

Aztecs Return to Wyoming to Face Cowboys in the MW Title Game (The Daily Aztec Sports)

Going back into Laramie, Wyo., the Aztecs will again battle relentless crowd noise and high altitudes, as Wyoming will host its first MW Championship in school history.

The Cowboys’ stable of eager fans should stampede into War Memorial Stadium in an effort to experience history even with below freezing weather already pinned into the forecast.

With unfavorable conditions looming over the Aztecs’ second showdown with the Cowboys, SDSU head coach Rocky Long will try to focus his team for it’s second conference championship.

Gagliardi column: Embrace the opportunity Cowboys football is presented with Saturday (WyoSports.net)

In college football, every game counts. If you want to dwell on those recent losses, fine. But don’t forget that UW also defeated some of the perennial MW heavyweights in Air Force, Boise State and San Diego State through the course of the season. Colorado State might be playing some of the best football of any MW team right now, but it wasn’t on Oct. 1 when UW won 38-17.

Seven of UW’s opponents will play in bowl games this season, and it went 4-3 against them. There are now so many bowl games that 5-7 teams get invites (three last season alone). The Cowboys were 2-0 against two such teams (Northern Illinois and Nevada).

Notebook: Wyoming sticks with quarterback Josh Allen, no matter the score (trib.com)

“That’s always a point of contention,” head coach Craig Bohl said. “When you’re an emerging football team, and you’re developing a competitive nature, there’s an attitude of never giving up. Did those things run through my mind? Yeah.

“So all the people who are out there on Twitter (who wanted Allen pulled), yeah, I looked at it and said, ‘OK, well what kind of message does that send?’ OK, Josh is more important than the starting offensive tackle? More important than Youhanna Ghaifan? He’s out there trying as hard as he can. And to pull Josh Allen, I’m going to tell you, he’s going to have an issue with that, too.”

Behind Enemy Lines:

Bohl's Cowboys bucked all doubts to reach title game (SD Union-Tribune)

On the day he was introduced in Laramie, Bohl wore a brown suit with a gold-striped tie and stirred up the players and faculty on hand by offering a loud whoop and a promise: “Strap it on, because you’re going to like what you see!”

“Craig Bohl, this is no surprise,” Boise State coach Bryan Harsin said. “Nebraska graduate, so he brings that toughness.”

“The course we’ve taken, it’s been a hard course,” Bohl said this week. “It’s not for the faint of heart. And now we have an opportunity to go out and win and championship ring. That’s huge. Until you’ve been on the mountain top, you don’t know what that’s like. That’s where you have to take a bold step. We’re in this thing now to win it.”

It was less than two years ago when UW defeated San Diego State in the championship game of the MW men’s basketball tournament in Las Vegas. That was the school’s first conference title in any sport as a member of the MW, which started in 1999

I also saw this on a facebook friend's post. We won basketball titles in 01 and 02.

Those were regular season titles though, not tournament championships
