2/14 Games

So we didn't play lights out but they put together a much better game, Granted it was against the worst team in the conference but after the last two games I thought we were done.

AFA Knocks off UNLV not extremely shocked they seem to be a different team with Yon back.

BSU @ FRE game is pretty tight, High scoring first half. Game is 51-50 in favor of BSU right now.

CSU started off really bad at SDSU but have since come alive and it's a much closer game 16-14 in favor of SDSU.

UNM @ NEV doesn't have a huge outcome just jam packs the middle of the league.

It's a pretty interesting thought, If CSU knocks off SDSU and BSU knocks off FRE we will be looking at really close to a 4 way tie for first between SDSU, WYO, CSU & BSU with BSU being the only team to play 12 instead of 13 games.

Not something I would have thought about a couple of weeks ago.

Wyo may find themselves back in MWC title contention after tonight. Especially by the time Nance comes back with the schedules SDSU and Boise have til then.

Quinn with 3 fouls in the first half, That could be the difference in the game if he gets his 4th early.

CSU completely fell apart, SDSU didn't need Quinn for the first half because CSU is throwing up bricks from three point range.

Now we need Boise to beat SDSU when they play again, and have NM or someone else take down SDSU for us. Our one game back is really two considering the head to head.

Cowboys did a good job today. Smaller line up and we ran the floor a little today which opened up the offense a little more it seemed. Very impressed with Herndon, Cooke, Grabau and Adams. They all played great today.

I think we will be okay till we get Nance back. BSU finally sees how tough it is to get a win at Fresno. CSU is making our game look better at SDS!

With BSU and CSU going down today our win was even more critical. Next week it's just as critical to get that win it's going to be hard for any team to go into Viejas and knock off SDSU.

I get that we were playing the basement dwellers of our league, but I LOVED the up tempo, pushing offense we ran today. We looked really good running the floor. Big game from Herndon and McManimal and monster performance from Adams. Thats the Adams we've needed all season. I think we may be able to steal one from Nevada

The post game press conference Shyatt mentioned that all week during practice they worked on up tempo and scoring in transition pushing tempo if it was there or working the clock if it wasn't. I think overall the faster pace works with this line and I think it would work with Nance in the line up as well.

We need NM to beat SDSU on Tuesday in The Pit.
And we obviously need to beat Nevada.

Then boom, tied back up with SDSU with a full week to prepare for Fresno State and hopefully have Larry back.
Sure SDSU will have the advantage in the head to head, but thankfully Boise plays SDSU again.

Nevada beats the Lobos 66-63 in OT.

This could be good for the Pokes...

New Mexico is on a 4 game losing streak, and is probably pissed now. And they get SDSU in the Pit Tuesday.

As for Nevada, I don't know if this win will ignite a fire under them, or if they will be on an emotional hangover when the Pokes come to town, or if it has no impact on the Wyo game.

I've been hearing that since the first of the season.
For a brief period it looked like BSU and UW had outside chances wtih at-large bids, but both probably need to win out and then win 1-2 games in the MW tourney to get in now. There was a chance at 3-4 bids. SDSU and CSU are near-locks to get in.

No MW team with 25+ wins has ever been excluded from the NCAA tourney. Only one 24-win team has (New Mexico).
