Well boys it might be time to take off the brown and gold glasses. Houston we have a problem.

I'm not bailing on team yet. I'll wait until conference play to judge better. Typical response from us wyonation folks. Step away from the ledge
Did you watch this game?

LeBron James once said: "You can't become a great team without encountering adversity. Adversity comes when you lose games you should win. It's how you respond and grow." Or something like that.... But, seriously, damit. We'll be OK in our crappy conference. We played our absolute worst @ SMU and @ Cal and we were competitive in both. Our absolute worst on the road is enough to beat all but three teams in the MWC. We'll still be top three in the Conf.

Second point: This offense is a joke. There is no attacking, no cutting, no inside game, and no open shots. Shyatt needs to change shit quick or Wyoming is going to be lucky to be a top 4 team in the MWC. Pressure defense has killed the flow of this offense all year. Maybe the problem is the interior players have no offensive game outside of Nance.
Totally agree. I HATE our offense. When our dudes (Grab, Adams, and Hank) actually attack the lane it opens things up! Go figure! Fix this! Attack the rim, good things happen :tickedoff:

That was frustrating to watch. At home, they're about unstoppable. On the road, they can't seem to get anything going. Either to timid or something. And the turnovers are what really killed us throughout the game.

The nice thing about the nba is you can turn that early season adversity into something once you make the playoffs. However in college basketball those early season losses mean you don't play in the playoffs, aka tournament.

Damn it. I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. I'm so desperate for this university to be good at a sport. This is a game an NCAA tournament team wins, bottom line. If we can't beat a middling PAC-12 team with this team, we never will. Maybe we should schedule more Division II teams.

We are fucked.

Nance is not right, not even close.

I honestly thought with a healthy Nance that this could be a great year and frankly I still think that it could have been, but he's just not right. For his sake I hope it is only temporary.

This was probably the first time since the 2007 football team that I was optimistic about a revenue sport at Wyoming. It just wasn't meant to be. Hopefully this year doesn't end up that bad.

We have a long rebuild in front of us too. A whole bunch of lightly recruited freshman and sophomores next year that we hope develop.

Just got back from the game and that was pretty rough.

I'm still not that down on this team. The kids busted their asses on D and really had the Cal fans frustrated turning on their own squad a little and bitching hard about refs. Dude...we held them to 45 on their court! That's some mean ass D. Wallace was pretty crazy and had awesome moves, a solid J, and good movement. He's fast, the guy's a PLAYER. We made Kravish non existent, as well as Mathews..who had to make a sweet running J for bucket. We forced them into a lot of tough shots and they hit some that NCAA type teams do. Except Behrens had sort of monster trash game on us which is concerning. Some of that was from Wallace's attack but I'm sick of any ATHLETIC bigs just going off for 10+ on us on the glass or easy in the paint. Cal plays D too FYI. If they have Bird they may have routed us, but I'm not sure we had them at our tempo.

Buckets tonight in this game= Water in the desert. Precious Precious Precious buckets.

Nance doesn't look the same but had some moments that will give me Cowboy DUNKIN day dreams. I think he might have lost a little explosiveness off that knee right now. Those 2 quick fouls on Adams killed us. He was getting in the flow and getting 2 the rack then BOOM outta the game. Herndon had a rough offensive outing and is still too soft for the MEAN bigs of the NCAA. Our offense at times is awesome, making the other team work hard for 30 secs then poof good look. Other times it's just meandering. I really don't like Nance/DC at the top of the 3 point line ever. WHY run them so high?? Zero chance for O boards when we have a pair of guys that can get O boards. Get them on the blocks and do some high low post stuff or something. Maybe Shyatt's saving it for conference? ROUGH game for Adams. The refs took him too early but made up for it with other calls but that also led to Cal playing even rougher D at the critical final minute without fouls called. SUCKS that we couldn't get a shot off to tie, but Cal does play D in their house. That is more CBI caliber shit though can't defend that.......
Here's to hoping boys  and I believe we can get better. We have players and a coach named Shyatt who improves his team as the season progresses. Hidden positives too, we had freshmen in there playing key minutes. Yeah it went to shit but they are freshmen in a HUGE game which will help us in the future.

Herndon just needs time to develop and put on muscle. Being a threat to hit the three will make him even more of a threat.
But still, a very veteran team struggled to do anything on offense against a team that was missing probably their best player. That is worrisome.

16-15 at the half. Really low scoring, mainly because our main outside guy sat out a lot.

Announcers suck balls, even for a conference network, and I think the "crowd" there are nothing but bitter old hippies heckling our guys.

Newsflash, Hoss: Hippies don't like sports. They don't go to games. These were just normal students and fans.

You guys battled all night long and didn't make it easy to win on our home floor.

I wouldn't get too down about this loss. Yes, Cal looked kinda average against a couple weak teams in FSU and Nevada but one of their main scoring options was out in part of the FSU game and all of the Nevada game so there's an adjustment period. Plus or big man Kravish is in a slump right now. He only shot 2-11 tonight but part of that was due to your tough d.

I think you'll be just fine this year. Don't know if that will mean the tourney for you but at least a good run towards it.

I'm confused. According to ESPN.com this morning we lost on the road to a now 8-1 PAC team by 3 and have a record of 8-2 ourselves. According to this forum today we're a bunch of sorry sh*ts with incompetent coaches and players.

Our weak schedule provides very few opportunities for good wins. Weve played 10 games and I'd say probably 4 of them were authentic games against legitimate competition. We've gone 2-2 in those games and lost our only ooc road tests. For many people who hoped this could be a special year, that's tough.

I did and it was rough but somehow we still had a chance to win it. Our offense is rough if we don't shoot the outside shot well to open things up. Times like last night we need to attack the rim more and stop settling for outside shots. That was troubling.
But here's the thing, the two best teams we have played have been on the road and we have had a chance in both of them even with a nonexistant offense. That is because we still play great D. We are not as bad as some here are claiming. We are fine. There is still a lot of basketball to be played. You are never as good as you think you are when things are going good and you are never as bad as you think when things are going bad. This wasn't a bad loss. It sucks because we needed a decent OOC road win but it didn't happen. On to the next game. we will still be 11-2 when conference starts with a chance for a lot of games to be won in conference.
