Texas St (+25.5, 8.2%) at UTEP
Defending FCS National Champs Montana St (-4.5, 41.1%) at Nevada

MWC can't have anyone pull a Utah St this week

MTST at Nevada might be a very entertaining game. Nevada is much better than they have been.

ILST at NIU will show a MWC foe that should be a Poke win in Laramie.

TxSo at UTEP might make us feel that the Pokes will be challenged to win at the site of the Sun Bowl as TXSO is not very scary.

CP at SJSU might be closer to covering the spread but not quite as likely to be score wise as close as the UNC at Wyoming score will be.

What a disaster.
Only consolation is the PAC whatever is 5-11 (3-1 against FCS) the non confernce so far.

Bohl’s decisions were frustrating but Burman’s worshiping of the Bohl doctrine may leave this program unable to recover for a few more years even if a change is made in plenty of time to refresh in 2027.

Refusal to use the offense as a weapon was detrimental. The use of it primarily as a field and clock management tool cost the program numerous winnable games. I was excited when Bohl signed Anderson. He was disappointing last season when he finally got the starting spot, but in all honesty the Wyoming system already in place for years and further undermined with the appointment of Sawful to make room for the “new” DC would make any capable passing QB look poor. What’s Anderson doing this year? He’s putting up some seriously nice numbers at Tarlenton State which is an aspiring FCS program Wyoming probably couldn’t beat at the present.

The new 2026 QB is appreciated for accepting the offer to finish his career here, but it is also apparent why he was a bench player at an FCS program for most of his career.

The Wyoming football program is now inundated with players who are challenged to show better than a standard FCS player and the excuse is we don’t have the funding to compete. I would not be surprised to find out that the combined salaries of the AD and head football coach at both Montana State and North Dakota State amount to equal or less than the salary of the AD and head football coach at Wyoming and they probably don’t have any significant difference in NIL money. All they do is recruit players who don’t get an P4 sniff and win games.

Bozeman is a nice little city with commercial airline service and is located in a scenic area close to Yellowstone and Montana mountain resorts. Fargo is well - Fargo. Bigger than Laramie by 5 times at least providing something more to do socially during the 6 months of cold crappy weather despite being away from a bigger metro area.

Is it simply Laramie is a major turn off for prospects or is there something about the refusal to pursue winning and celebrating mediocrity? Maybe it’s both. I go with winning enhances the desire to be part of something successful. Wyoming has been unsuccessful for so long there is no big allure for a better recruit to come and play for a bottom feeder just because the head coach is amongst the highest paid in the MWC.

If you don’t think Bohl had a heavy influence in the Sawful and Bohl Jr.’s hires, I don’t know what I can write to convince you? TB didn’t have the stones to do what should have been done. We all try to our understand why our program is so bad.

It is simple. We are never going to have the top athletes that will just run over teams regardless of coaching staff. And when we get one of the most inept staffs in the country, this is the result. Sawvel has no business being the head coach of a division 1 football team and that has been apparent since the Arizona State game. Instead, we continue to make excuses for the poor performance - blame it on the QB, blame it on NIL, blame it on Laramie….but really, with a quality staff and the schedule we are facing, there is zero reason we aren’t a 9-10 win team. These teams don’t have superior NiL resources; quite the opposite.

I’ve been screaming about Burman’s hiring decimating the major sports for years from the Shyatt to the Bohl regimes because it was easy for Burman to look at the mediocre “success” in both programs and implement the recommendations of the departing head coaches which included lucrative positions for offspring.

I have to believe the Wyoming Cowboys fan collective must be as disappointed as I am. You are correct. We can blame the failures on a myriad of factors. There is a common denominator: Tom Burman. Until the head is cut off the snake, it will continue to ruin any hope of success.
