Tyler Hughes named Starting QB

I honestly don’t know a thing about Hughes. My pessimism aside, I hope he does well and leads this team to a conference championship.
I happened to meet some W&M alums/fans at my cousins wedding in May. They seemed to follow the football team pretty closely, so I asked them their thoughts on Hughes.

Consensus was that he is a great runner/scrambler but that his passing ability is pretty average. They also felt that he performed very well against teams that weren't very good but always struggled when he faced good teams/defenses. I guess W&M had a chance to make the FCS playoffs if they won their last game of the season and Hughes really sucked it up and they lost. Looked that game up just now - Hughes threw for just 86 yards and an INT. They also claimed that Hughes was benched in a couple games because he wasn't performing well. I don't know if that is true or not.

Overall, they were skeptical that Hughes was going to be able to perform well at the FBS level. At W&M, he was often the most athletic guy on the field and could use that athleticism to make plays with his legs. Can he do that against the faster defenses he will see in the FBS ranks? Let's hope so.

Sean Chambers 2.0

If he is able to be consistent (stays healthy) with his running abilities and make the 4 yard pass when it’s critically needed on 3rd down the Pokes should be a legitimate threat to win 6 games with this schedule.
I would take that in a heartbeat. With a little luck we might even do a little better than 6-6

Holy crap. I did not realize that Chambers had a sub 50% completion percentage.

Was he also that bad of a passer at Montana State?

Actually either one would be better than what we had last year.

I would love ACS 's first year but he definitely wasn't as good the year before he transferred. Chambers was snake bit most his career at Wyoming but he had one of the all-time great runs against Missouri

Anderson just happened to go 15/21 for 224 yds and 3 TD’s albeit against PV A&M yesterday.

It does make one feel that the offense has been so neglected for years that it is relatively easy to defend against by any team with their left hand tied behind their back just to make it fair. Since the HC is named Sawful, I am having trouble getting excited that the offense can land knockout punches early and often.

Chambers was the QB that ensured Wyoming got to 6 wins with his running. His passing wasn’t sufficient enough to get the big conference wins. When healthy he was a threat to get the win.

He was throwing better just before his 1st injury.
