Based upon these renderings, there are more seats in the locker room than next to the pool.

I wonder if that was passed on, as I have been told there is literally no seating for fans / family / etc.

Given the lack of seating i'm wondering if Burman isn't planning on using the city/school pool for meets? That should really make people irate. Why UW couldn't team up with the City and School district on one phenomenal aquatic center. STill have this great 50 meter pool with 10 lanes that UW, Laramie High, State swimming could use, but then have another "recreation" type pool more geared toward the community all in one facility. THere had to have been some potential cost savings with that type of plan. But when you are making $590k a year, and get raises for poor results, it's tough to really understand anything about fiscal accountability or responsibility.

There is a large outdoor temporary water holding apparatus outside the new seatless pool at UW. What is in said apparatus? The water from the original fill, when they discovered it failed.
What a dumb location, stupid idea (no seating), and waste of money when UW could have partnered with LHS and saved $40 or so million. Way to go Burman! You fucked us again!

Unbelievable that a D-1 sports facility has no seating. What is the point of the facility!? What is the point of college athletics??

I don't know the reality of the build, but the construction plans show bleacher seating for 500. I have to imagine that is more than enough to host a dual or a decent size invite.
Why not make it into some kind of revenue sport...I mean, if we are competing, open it up to the public to come watch for $5, and all proceeds go to the team / facility repairs that will be endless / etc. Burman is so damn money hungry with reseating and such at the AA and War, why not at this facility? No idea!
The plans may show that, but I certainly don't see it / haven't seen it. Maybe someone else can actually verify, as the question posed in the OP.
I heard the same. Word is that the compaction under the pool was not done correctly (as we all know, the soil in Laramie is terrible) and the pool is leaking. Further, the discharge into the sewer was not properly calculated so they can't drain the pool into the sewer system - thus the large tank outside the facility. My understanding from the pool professionals is that the only way to fix it is to rip out the existing pool, recompact the soil with additional fill, and reinstall and seal the pool. Of course, that is NOT what UW is going to do. They have opted for the "patch" and hope method - just like do with every project at that place.
All this said, we should've scrapped swimming and diving and gone a different direction to retool the mix of sports at UW. Whatever. I gave up a long time ago.
Though Title IX seems to be out the window these days the only team they could cut is men's swimming and be above the required D1 teams requirements and scholarships.
Putting on my tinfoil hat I bet this was a good ole boys contractor hire and not the pool will continue to sink or have issues for years until someone finally fixes it right

I am just happy to see that "professional" indoor pools are just as much of a maintenance nuisance and money pit as personal back yard pools.
I owned a home with a backyard pool for a short time, and I will never do that a again. It was literally a never ending waterfall of problems. I eventually just drained it and put a tarp over it. When I eventually sold the home, the number of potential buyers that saw the pool as a positive was mind blowing to me...obvious they have never owned a home with a pool before.

Fun story here, many years ago, UW owned 1306 Ivinson, and gave it to the acting UW president to live in. Guess what it used to have in the back yard? Yep, a pool. Can't tell you how many times during my "Sandlot Days" we spent jumping the fence and swimming. It was awesome - and some great memories!

We had one in Casper. Long story but my Dad used to work construction for his Dad over the summers who promised him a pool if he worked all summer for free. He never got the pool. The apples didn't fall far from the tree so my brother and I worked construction for my Dad over the summers (we at least got paid). We ended up building our own house when I was in junior high working nights and weekends, and our final project was an outdoor pool. Dad finally got his pool..
We had to keep it heated to 90 or so to be enjoyable, but it was awesome for the summer months. The other 9 months it was useless. I had some pretty fun parties in high school when the parents were out of town.
