Fingers crossed this guy pans out, I'm not sure how high the skill is in Germany but hey, 6'11" is gonna be really solid regardless.

It’s better for aerodynamics.
I like the size. The guy doesn't need to be a huge scoring threat for us. He just needs to be able to give us some defensive presence down low and help clean the glass a bit. Would be a plus if he is a good passer - many European bigs are.
Pro A is the second tier league in German professional basketball. There is a pretty decent number of ex-American college basketball players in that league, so the competition level is not bad. I'd say the German Pro A is better than the MWC, especially with the new MWC make up.
That's a really solid outlook then, he didn't average much in Pro A but he's gonna keep developing and if he's been doing it against older comp he can likely keep it up vs younger less experienced bigs and (potentially) smaller bigs
Watched his video and I am pleasantly surprised as he appears to have moves around the basket and knows how to position himself. I especially liked the under the basket move to shield his shot from being blocked.
I would imagine the way he was utilized on his pro team in Germany will be very different from the way Sunny utilizes him on a collegiate team in America. Of course we are all guessing, but I wouldn't be surprised to see both Ruf and Gores on the floor at the same time. Ruf appears to be good enough in both offense and defense to take the heat off of Gores, which could very well make it easier on Gores to score because the best defensive big on the opponent might very well have to defend Ruf instead of Gores.
Also with Ruf on the floor it might be easier to play the in-and-out game. What Ruf will have to learn is how hard he has to play and how to stay out of foul trouble. But I am really excited to see how this team gels together. Both of the other European players appear to be tall shooting forwards/guards with a really high upside.
As it has been mentioned before, it is a lot easier to find guards than it is to find bigs. Maybe Sunny can find an experienced, but under-the-radar type of point guard that wants to be a good floor general for a D1 program. The point would not have to be a high scorer, some of our best point guards were not big scorers but were able to hit an open shot when the opportunity arises. Also, this guard will need to have a good assist to turnover ratio and know how to get guys into the best positions to optimize the offense. Not flashy, just efficient.

Abou Magassa committing to UNC Asheville. Solid move for the kid imo, steps down in conference prestige to a place he probably starts on a team that seemed a few pieces from a conference title run, especially with how much changes year to year with mid majors an 8-8 Big South record could turn into a conference title caliber team quick. I'm not sure what their other portal moves were but they've had their current coach since the 18/19 season and he's got a tournament bid from 22/23, seems like he knows what he's doing and is committed to their program.

When you have more fouls than points there is not a whole lot of value in you taking a roster spot

I had to look this up, and it is SHOCKINGLY close. Abou had 68 fouls this year. He scored 90 points and pulled down 87 rebounds. He was significantly more effective in 24-25. Vapoke's assertion that he wasn't willing to put in the work certainly checks out if you look at the stats.

He basically had 1 rebound for every 3 minutes and 1 foul for every 4 minutes of play time this year.
Some games he seemed to be a spark off the bench and other games he couldn’t guard a fence post let alone something that moved which earned him bench time.
Wicks did mention more than one time about intensity starts in practice.
