A grand total of three MWC players were drafted and no Wyoming Cowboys. Transfer portal sure is awesome!!

It is not the MWC I think only saw 3 or 4 other non-power conference players selected.. This means we are far more likely to an acceleration in the consolidation of talent in the power conferences
MAC had more players selected than the MWC did. Also more players selected from FCS schools than from MWC teams. Two of the three players selected from MWC were from teams that will be in the PAC next year.
Ouch.

Evan Svoboda - Chargers
What is an interesting story is Sam Scott! Would be awesome if he could make a roster. Waylee said he was returning to Wyoming and then left for Virginia because apparently it would help his NFL future. As of today, Sam Scott is signed but it does not appear that Waylee has been.

Also - and what us non-experts (according to Sawvel) - have been saying for years...how does Sam Scott get so few carries? He was constantly buried on the depth chart. Yet - - an NFL team believes he is good enough to bring into an NFL camp.
He will need to be a punt/kick-off return threat in order to stick on an NFL roster because he won't be a primary running back. Suspect he will be utilized mostly with inside zone running plays.

Maybe they are looking at him as a LB, like he should have been his whole career

The Jets release lists him as a running back. I am sure they like his linebacker versatility because any guy like that to have a shot would have to be able to tackle on special teams.

With the way the numbers are going, I personally don't think it's crazy to predict that Wyoming will never have another NFL draft pick. Not unless the system goes in a drastically different direction.
123 of the 255 total draft picks were transfers. That represents a little over 48% of all players drafted.
I can't find an exact number, but it appears a significant majority of those transfers drafted started at programs outside the Power 4.
Nothing really surprising here, but these numbers make it abundantly clear how difficult it is for non Power 4 teams to hold onto any talent they recruit/develop.
I do not doubt that there will be some players who have played at Wyoming who will be drafted, but more than likely they will be playing for another team the year before being drafted. With NIL money, the transfer portal, and the decided preference of NFL teams to draft from the Power 4 I just do not see any 3 or 4 year Cowboys getting selected.

Just to be clear, I don't consider Emmanuel Pregnon (for example) to be a Wyoming draft pick.
I don't think NFL teams have a preference for players from Power 4 teams. It's just that Power 4 teams tend to have the most talent on them, especially since NIL and the changing of transfer rules. It wasn't but just 5 years ago when nearly a third of all NFL draftees were from non-Power schools.
I don't think it's impossible for a fringe O-lineman to be drafted in the late rounds from a school like Wyoming, even in this new world of college football. Guys like Caden Barnett and Jack Walsh were not far off from being drafted this year.

They will probably get rookie mini-camp invites but not the priority UDFA deals the others got. Tyce Westland just got the invite to Broncos rookie camp.
Besides Pregnon, any idea how many Cowboy transfers were drafted?
