Fire Burman

We get a jersey patch, meanwhile NM is selling naming rights to the Pit for $17M. He is on top of things as usual.
We're also trying to get a naming rights deal for the AA, according to Burman. Also looking for a deal for a field logo sponsor as well. I have a ton of notes from the town hall last night, should turn it into a blog.

Burman said war memorial stadium will never have a corporate sponsor as long as he is AD. Time to fire him. We need all the money we can get. Just not pornhub stadium like some people wanted on here

I'll share my notes with the caveat that they're definitely not complete thoughts, I was hurrying to eat dinner, and finish my work day, so I could jump on the podcast with Chad and Bryan. If they don't make sense, just trust that they make sense in my head and hopefully will be complete thoughts when I can get a blog out. Cool? Cool.

Sawvel talking about donating salary - really wants to win at Wyoming, doing whatever it takes
Excited about new QB, couldn't have gone any better for Wyoming, had a lot of options, really wanted to be at UW.
Hughes excited to be at Wyoming, loved the support around the community, excited for the chance to score points to compliment the defense.
Hughes "wants to do anything to win, no matter what it takes." No numerical goals for himself, just wants to win.
Burman: If we'd score 28 points last year we'd have nine wins. Taylor wanted to come to Wyoming. Combination of OC and QB will help. Overall, retained talent. Likes the schedule.
Burman: 1Wyo, a lot of work, fans felt like it was money laundering, ultimately not successful.
Burman: Biggest ways to help program is CJC donations and attending events. Incremental dollars go towards rev share, increasing that is important
Burman: State of Wyoming athletics... not happy with W/L with the three primary sports. Not performed at the level we expect. Fundraising in CJC gone from 3.7 to 4.6 million. 1.2mil to 2.1mil in premium seating, growth in ticket sales (missed the #). Need to focus on growing CJC numbers.
Burman: UNLV UNM more rev share, but Wyoming trending toward the top
Burman: NDSU and Wyoming have a lot of similarities, could become a great rivalry. NDSU fans are investing heavily.
Burman: Have had conversations with many other universities on NIL and what is and isn't working. Can't think like schools in metro areas like Boise, SDSU, UNLV. Rarely have 8 figure donations, schools like Boise and UNLV get multiple per year. Rev share is better for UW than it was without it.
Burman: What does rev share look like at Wyoming? A lot of contracts in the $10K, a few in the $50K range, and very few in the six figure range. Wants to grow the number of $25K type contracts.
Prigge: Volleyball and wrestling also generate income, also included in rev share. 75-80 SAs under rev share contract. Doing payments to non-rev share Olympic sports, only MW school to continue doing so via Alston scholarship
Burman: Schools are dropping sports, mentioned CBU. Not interested in that at UW, needs to have 16, we have 17. All boats rise.
Prigge: Player contracts are protected from public view
Burman: Legislative request from AD to support athletics.. $6m in the house and senate bill. $40m budget cut would be catastrophic, to UW and AD. The $6m requested ($35m is self generated currently) is to grow AD budget, not for rev share. $2.1m in student fees, used to be $2.3m. $6m ask is the result of inflation and buying power.
Prigge: $20.5m is max that can be rev shared, NIL capped at $25m on top of rev share. Feels good about our place in the new MW.
Prigge: Contracts for SAs.. payment structure is beginning of Aug, second half is paid in Feb. If SA transfers prior to Feb no payment made. Third payment is made in June, backloaded. Similar methodology at other universities, about protecting themselves.
Burman: House settlement also resulted in 8 new scholarships for Olympic sports at about $350K.
Burman: Would never consider dropping down. Teams are going up, not going down. Montana State getting clowned for their OOC, no one would be excited to see that at UW.
Burman: Lack of atmosphere at the AA is a problem. Atmosphere at the War is great. Biggest way to contribute is to show up. 4200 donors in CJC last year. Half of CJC donors are between $100-$1000 a year.
Burman: Unknown # for money for sports behind the paywall network.
Burman: No chance that War Memorial will have naming rights. AA they're looking at rights. Jersey patch deal coming in the next few months. Negotiating for a field logo deal soon as well.

biggest thing you notice is that we are no longer comparing UW to BYU, Utah, SDSU, Boise, CSU. Now we are comparing to Cal-Baptist, Montana State, NDSU. I don't understand how / why the payments are not public records when the payment is coming directly from the University. This is particularly troubling given that the state just allocated $6 million to UW and the funds to pay the SA are essentially coming from the university. Very bothersome / troubling.

As noted above, the $6m was to grow the AD budget, not the rev share, because of inflation and buying power. That question was answered twice after some asshat got pissy in the live Q&A.
