Fire Burman

A crappy football season, a horrendous womens basketball team, and struggling mens basketball team equates to $851k for the leader of the athletic department. Absurdity.
I would add to 'accomplishments' of the AD over the past year:
1) Positioning Wyoming in an awful future conference that still lacks any viable media deal
2) Giving up a home football game with a good North Texas program to go play at Colorado State (the same team leaving us behind and suing us)
3) Creating absolute confusion as to 'NIL' donations and the accounting of such donations.
4) Successfully ensuring that the lower stands on the West side are never more than half full for a football contest.
5) Going to the legislature with a lazy and dead on arrival $6 million request that added fuel to the Freedom Caucus' desire to gut University funding, leading to what appears to be a $40 million cut in the block grant.

He whiffed on the future conference thing, pretty sure if somebody (talking to you media) asked for public email records, they would find out something that would shock us all. That said, not sure it matters, as we likely will have to join those assholes once again in a future conference together. What a waste of money.

Another concern, the overall athletic facility look is starting to take a hit. There are issues that to a professional eye look dilapidated and run down. Not just talking about landscaping weeds, but I am sure if you really all look, you will see things. Wonder how often he walks his facilities (all of them, inside and out) and does and inspection with his team(s), mandating a professional look. Likely never.

He's too busy playing footsies with an ex-mayor of Cheyenne. Another good look, openly cheat on and leave your wife.

Immoral, rich, ass-kissing scumbag that can’t do his job worth a shit. The sooner he’s out of UW athletics, the better!

He is now...LOL.

And I will leave it at that. He sucks as an athletic director, and has basically since day 1, but I cringe at the personal shit.
I’m with you on the cringe.

It is not fair to anyone to speculate on someone’s personal life and whether they may or may not be cheating on a significant other without some damn good information.

Plus, someone’s personal bedroom business is not my business. But their ability to perform the functions of a highly funded state position (free of distraction) certainly is.

He’s a G.O.B. in someone’s realm and basically untouchable. Talk about elitism, the AD position at Wyoming defines it.

The economic factors are at a point where the viability to enhance let alone sustain the current status quo will require a significant cash infusion. The average middle class John Q. Public Wyoming Cowboys fan is a thoroughly squeezed lemon. If the settlement with the pee12 ever occurs it will be a temporary bandage to the pending disaster that is occurring before our eyes in real time.

This is all why i basically support the Freedom Caucus in not funding the additional $6 million for the NIL. The BOT won't do anything then the legislature may as well stop funding this stuff -- it's the only other way out.

The $6M is a play on words in the CSD article. It is the standard $3M ask that UW has asked for over the years, the $6M number is because they asked for it over two years so it is bad journalism. Wyoming has not asked the state for NIL money...yet.

The Freedom Caucus seems to have issues with UW itself and classes being taught but not sure why they are taking aim at athletics as they are not asking for an increase. They did match the CJC so a weird hill for sure

I have issues with Burman but they just seem hell bent on causing chaos without a point. How do you not fund $3M but match $5M in CJC funds?

nobody seems to know what it is for or how it would be administered. They (Burman and Wicks) indicated it was because of the "landmark House vs. NCAA settlement". https://wyofile.com/lawmakers-vote-to-axe-uws-block-grant-defund-wyoming-public-media/. This was part of OreDiggers post above. If it is for that then it's NIL related, it's just hard to figure out how or what the money is for. OreDigger was exactly correct, it's just a bunch of BS so he can get another raise as far as i can tell.

I wish more media covered it and we were not character limited on one article on it. Regardless Burman is on contract until June 30, 2027 and without a President until June-ish he will keep that title more than likely. Unless the new President just wants to clean house or go a different direction when it pertains to Athletics...if they even care
