Fire Burman

The JAC just approved 15million to try to secure the PRCA Hall of Fame’s relocation to Wyoming. Talk about frivolous. What a joke. These old idiots can screw off.

They are trying to be cute and failing (as usual).

Below is the background UW submitted to JAC in the budget book. They are trying to make up for lower distributions from the NCAA as a result of the settlement, and increase operational funding.

Multiply each of these by two to account for the biennium, and you get the $6 million:

• NCAA Distribution Reduction: Loss of approximately $550,000 annually in NCAA revenue.
• Scholarship Expansion: Targeted increase of $350,000 annually in women’s sports scholarships to meet Title IX compliance.
• Post-Eligibility Support: Estimated $350,000 annually for health care and academic benefits for student-athletes after eligibility ends.
• New media rights agreement: Estimated decrease of $1,000,000 per year as a result of changes in conference membership.
• Operational Cost Increases: The remaining $750,000 annually will offset rising costs in travel, medical care, nutrition, equipment, facilities
maintenance
THanks.

The biggest thing there is clearly the $1 million they are losing in media rights (estimated). The new conference is bad. UNLV will dominate. WHen you look at how much less the Big SKy schools budgets are. University of Idaho for example is $25 million. It really only makes sense to drop down just to save money. I just don't buy whatever UW is selling to keep a budget of like $54 million and be in a really bad league without CSU.

It wil not save money it will cost money.
I just don't buy that anymore. THere was some validity to that before when UW was in a good MWC with the likes of TCU, Utah and Boise etc. As we are basically dropping down and being less competitive it becomes less and less valid.

The athletics department is getting about $22 million in aid from UW and the state. So even if they get say $10 million revenue from ticket sales or boosters or parking etc they will only need $15 million from the state / subsidy. I think that line is just so Burman and his minions won't have to take paycuts. I think the math is that simple now. So it save $7 million and UW can get pounded by Montana and Montana State and hopefully beat SOuthern Utah and Portland State.
