We are squarely in the era of g6 schools having a completely different team each year with completely unpredictable results.

Wyoming is trying to do a partial revamp with damages in the significant level. We all know hiring Sawful wasn’t handled correctly to begin with.

You take UNM hiring Bronco Mendenhal who brought staff with him who knew what they were doing. He got UNM started before jumping into the dumpster fire at Utah State and bringing them to life in one season. Eck comes to UNM and brings in his experienced staff and the players to run the system building on what Bronco started.

Wyoming took a solid base that needed some serious shoring up in many areas and instead implemented disorganized chaos with a don’t know how to run the show head coach who has to be forced each year to examine the obvious failure areas.

The damage is done. I am skeptical that there won’t be some kind of control issues which will make the OC hire like another Mastakis or whatever the guys name was.

The same guy who took Wyomings offense from the worst to First in one year? Yeah i hope we hire an OC who will do that.

How do we know our Defense will be as good in 26 as it was in 25 we are just assuming our D will rock in 26, we lost a lot, Saw duck got lucky on a couple of transfers and now they are gone, wouldn’t surprise me if our Offense got better and our Defense declines drastically

Some interesting names for sure. I am not sure guys will leave the Fun Belt, even for a $200k pay raise. I guess does Jordan follow to OSU, he did not coach the QB there.

Kevin Decker has crushed it here at ODU but Colten Joseph is an elite QB that will be at P4 next year

I agree. If that OL doesn't improve drastically, the Pokes wont be able to run the ball and it wont matter who the QB is if there isn't time to get a pass off.

For what it’s worth, a good quarterback can make an Oline look better. Getting the ball out quickly lowers the sack rate and decreases the defense’s reaction time.

Either they are waiting for a new OC to see if he wants to keep the staff or they are running it back with the same staff

I won't say it won't happen, but I would be surprised if there is a big shake-up on the offensive staff at UW. The reason that I say this is that HC is the one who really hires and fires and our HC will not be changing. Secondly, Bouknight isn't going anywhere, and I would be surprised if Gary Harrell would go anywhere and despite the issues the OL had this year I would be surprised if Joe Tripodi went anywhere for several reasons. That leaves Shannon Moore, and I wouldn't be surprised if anyone was let go it would be him. Wyoming though has a history of being very loyal to its coaches and yes Sawvel did let Johnson go during the season there has been no mention of any other coaches. So, if the new OC wants to bring along any coaches with him, there will probably be only one position open at most.

Interested in the reasons for Tripodi being safe. His lines are awful.

If they try to hire a seasoned OC, and that OC wants to pick his guys for position coaches, and PBJ says no, it would be reason 5789 for firing him.

I don't agree that his lines have been awful first of all. We had several upperclassmen this last year were really good, but one weak link can cause a lot of issues and that is what happened with the early injury with Nate Geiger. That early injury at the tackle position caused a lot of issues. Since I don't know all of the internal workings of the OL I don't know if Tripodi could have solved this issue in a different way, and for this I will knock him on it. But I did see development of an underclassman that is a stud and will be an outstanding OL and that is Braylon Jenkins. Second of all, most of the ills for the OL were not of his making. Meaning the schemes by the OC were horrible and the DC's that we faced saw the weakness' and exploited them. The opposing DC's saw that if you flooded the box and overwhelmed the OL with numbers (not Tripodi's fault) the QB didn't get rid of the ball quickly enough to make the defenses pay. One of the reasons that Anderson wasn't getting rid of the ball quickly enough was because most of the WR's couldn't get separation (again not Tripodi's fault).

The offense imo reminded me of an old Navy saying we had, the offense was a Cluster %%ck...... Granted there were a couple of years where the OL recruiting has not been there but from everything we have read this incoming class is very good. I don't feel that coach Sawvel wanted to blow-up the OL for the number of reasons that weren't Tripodi's fault.

I must not have been watching the same games. I did not see really good offensive line play out of anyone on the line regardless of age. We were bad all season.

The reality is that we couldn't run the ball and couldn't pass it. What I will say is that Anderson couldn't find REALLY open receivers and was a statue in the pocket, which of course impacted our run game with other DCs loading the box to take away the run. They played Davies at Tackle for 5 games with a PFF grade of 9.9. Refused to make changes on the OL
