SDSU

I didn’t think we’d score a lot and SDSUs D looks amazing but we left a lot of points on the field. Turnovers were killer and don’t understand how you let your kicker kick those. You know his range, if he can’t get it there, you put in the kicker with the stronger leg but who’s maybe not as accurate on shorter stuff.

I'm not surprised, just disappointed. SDSU let UW hang around . Any above average team would have at least scored again. Just awful offense all night. Javon is not innocent of blame

Dang. Defense played good enough again, but the offense just can’t do anything. It’s pretty obvious that mediocre QB play contributes to a lot, but the line didn’t help much either tonight. If Wyoming is going to be competitive, I think it’s clear a mobile quarterback is necessary. Kaden might have a lot of moxie and the players might like him, but he doesn’t have the “ it” factor it takes to win big games. If somehow someway we get to bowl eligibility, I hope it’s against an opponent we can beat. I’m not sure we can get to 6 wins, it is still possible, but going to be difficult.

We need to be honest about who we are. All of our wins are against teams with 2 or fewer wins (including Northern Iowa). We get zero pressure on the QB. Our OL often looks like they are practicing their Matador skills. The QB stares down his primary receiver and then throws it there whether he's open or not. Our run game is non existent against any team with a decent front 7.
Sadly, I suspect the coaching is not as bad as it appears. The talent on the field is just not very good. Having said that, I suspect if we had a competent head coach who could evaluate talent and get rid of the sloppy penalties and bone head mistakes, we'd have at least 1, if not 2 more wins this year.
Look at Fresno St - totally embarrassed against csewe and SDS. They come out and win today. New Mexico goes on the road and beats UNLV. We never go on the road and win against a team with a winning record. Hell, we hardly ever did it during Bohl's 10 years. This is very close to rock bottom. We have very little (I would argue nothing) to lose by getting rid of this entire staff and looking for new blood. Sadly, Burman won't do it. But this current team is nearly unwatchable.
To top it off, we have a field goal kicker who can't kick it 40 yards. There are probably female soccer players who can kick it further. How this guy got a spot on the roster is beyond my comprehension. I saw Sawvel yelling at him after his 50 yarder landed at the goal line. Sawvel better take a long look in the mirror because special teams have been a disaster all year and he seem completely surprised by every break down in execution.

agree with this...i'm not a believer in the talent on this team. The coaches are doing them no favors for sure.

The coaching hire has been a disaster for sure, but I also agree that we don't have the horses. A little more production at QB would mask a lot of deficiencies. We could probably invest all our NIL money in a qb and compete better in these mostly terrible conferences. QB and a few key players on O and D line will win the MWC next year.

I have been saying all along that under Bohl and continuing with Sawful QB recruiting has not been a primary pursuit. No offense to Drube because I haven’t seen him play at this level which is vastly more challenging than Wyoming high school ball. I hold out hope like with the Bramlett guys he is the real deal but he will also need talent to work with.

Our coaching is horrible as the design of the offense compounded with numerous marginal abilities has had the program in a power outage midway more often than a threat to strike like lightning. If Bronco can go to UNM and change the absolute worst offense overnight as he did in 2023 the same can happen here. It won’t because the thought is win at overpowering the opponent but unfortunately we lose in the trenches against successful teams and look like the weakling team.

We are 4-2 against losing teams that have a combined 15-36 record. We are 0-3 against winners with a combined 20-5. We have been out scored in our losses 147-71 or an average of 29-14.

We consistently rank 8-11th in the MWC in scoring offense and have for every year since 2017. The last time I looked at scores it seems like every time the team with the most points has the W. Maybe the assessment with Burman is “playing tough” for at least 3 quarters.

I refuse to accept all Wyoming can choose from for offensive players is the leftovers. It’s a coaching decision who is being recruited and Sawful has not been bothered to take the offense to a higher production level. You may not perfect it in the 2nd season but it’s as bad as always with little hope Jovon can change anything with the personnel he has to work with. Jovon should look elsewhere for his career unless he is given free rein to assemble the offense without interference from Sawful. It will be the only way to find out if the OC is worth anything or continually forced to pound square pegs through round holes by the head job coach.

You can refuse to accept whatever you want...it's still the case thay Wyoming is not a place that recruits want to come to. Who is Wyoming recruiting against? There are a pool of recruits and within that pool there is a level of talent above which it makes no difference if Wyoming recruits them or not, they aren't coming to Laramie. I don't follow recruiting like some, but who are the guys that would come to Wyoming if recruited and are going on to above average success? Is that a large group of guys?

This is not a defense of the coaching staff...they are awful...it's just a sanity check on the task of recruiting a QB in this era of college football. Anybody with obvious talent is not committing to Wyoming or schools like Wyoming.

Seems like the coaching staff quit again in the 4th quarter. There was no sense of urgency with a 10-point deficit and only 5 minutes to play. Granted the offense was non-existent but what kind of message does this mentality send to the team? You play to win the game.

Sawvel should have been fired in the locker room for that alone. We are running the ball and and taking our time like we were in the lead. I don't care if Anderson throws 10 picks. Throw the ball. We might get a PI call or heaven forbid, one of our receivers catches one Anderson's half assed flares. If the coaching staff doesn't care about winning, why should the players?
