Most Frustrating Season Ever - Maybe Second Most?

I was just on the phone with my dad and we were talking about Wyo Football. I felt my blood pressure come to a rapid boil recounting the many ways our Pokes have found to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat this season. From blocked punts for touchdowns (2 in the same game, with no adjustments made to address the issue) to interceptions on absolutely brainless calls that totally swung the game against AFA (that one stupid decision resulted in a 21 point swing - we gave up 7, they got 7, and then we were in a rush to get points back and Anderson threw a vintage Anderson dumb-A pass), this is emerging as an all-timer in terms of mindless stupidity and horrific playcalling costing us games. We should have beaten AFA and UNLV. We should have at least tried to win the CU game - but we waved the white flag (which is unthinkable and unforgivable). I just don't get it. To me, the season where Bramlet and Glenn couldn't get a win after starting the year cruising through pretty good competition and completely breaking down in that TCU game (where we had like 100 turnovers and were still in the game) was THE all-time craptastic year with Billy Cockhill and the boys squandering a next level defense, but this year is quickly elevating to that level of dumbassery. I'm sure the Jays will find a way to completely destroy what should be a fun Saturday against the PAC-stabbing Sheep...and I might just be dumb enough to go and watch it unfold in person. If Jay-squared find another stupid way to lose a game to a terrible CSU team in a year when we need to pin one on those traitorous SOBs, I might end up in Evanston at the looney bin.

Understand this 💯%, and as much as it kills me, I won’t be going to the game in person. And I’ll miss the super nachos, the game day experience, just probably not the game.

2017 was the most frustrating to me. Thought we had a top 25 team and we barely made the Potato Bowl (Allen was injured for several games). A crazy amount of players from that team ended up in the NFL.

I already had really low expectations for this year. Because I watched Sawvel and company coach last year.
That’s the year for me as well. When you look at that roster, and the talent we had, there was no excuse to not be in the MWC championship game. The losses to Fresno and San Jose were ridiculous, regardless of the quarterback situation. And really, Iowa wasn’t a juggernaut. That game was a dud on the road too. Really, the last 9 years have been frustrating with several losses to teams we should have beaten. I’m not throwing this one away just yet. I’m hoping Jovon provides a spark for the offense and they can string together 4 out of the last 5. Probably a little lofty, but there isn’t anyone on the schedule that our defense can’t stop. Now that I say all that, having anemic offenses since the 90’s is the most frustrating!

I can't remember the year(s) of my most frustrating seasons (there have been plenty)...

However, one year we stormed out of the gate with a Bramlet at QB, and ran into TCU (in Laramie) and the turnovers just wouldn't stop. The season derailed completely from there.

2005.

That was the year after we upset UCLA in the Las Vegas Bowl. Sports Illustrated had us in their top 25 teams in the nation. We had beaten Ole Miss on the road and just stomped UNLV at home.

Then we had 8 turnovers against TCU and somehow still only managed to lose 28-14. The season went off the rails from there. That was such a depressing season. People all around the state had jumped on board with Glenn at the helm and a Wyoming kid at QB. What could have been...
