Northern Iowa at Wyoming Preview

No offense but reads like a chat bot.

especially after a lackluster offensive showing against one of the weaker FBS programs

Few paragraphs later...

Wyoming showcased a strong offensive performance against Akron,

Well, gotta say it again, 10 points against a glorified high school opponent is atrocious.
I dunno. I don't think either team looked too bad. Boring? Yes. I don't think Akron is a glorified high school team and I don't think Wyoming is an Alabama. Both teams had solid defenses. The team that took the field for the ASU opener (ahem...Wyoming) last year was much more high school team than either Wyoming or Akron proved to be this year. Both teams are going to win some games this year.

I just don’t know how we are making these bold predictions of being a good team based on one game against perhaps the worst team in FBS.
The coaching, and team in general, really did seem to turn a corner towards the end of last year. And, many of our struggles were at QB, which was historically bad. We win at least two more games last year with just a merely garden variety mediocre QB. We don’t have that problem this year. I like pokes to roll in this one. It’s northern Iowa. Not a juggernaut

JB as WR coach was a huge upgrade. The jury is still out on JJ at OC, but the early signals are not great.

In related news, I was talking to a friend at lunch about the OL and my concerns about our blocking. He suggested that his bigger concern was that Scott was too slow hitting the hole - that our line was getting on their blocks, but that the LBs were getting around to Scott and shutting him down because he was a step and a half too slow to the hole. I haven't watched the game again to confirm it - but my buddy played OL in college and suggested it might make sense for SS to be a yard closer to the line at the snap to put him in a better position to hit the line right.

Good observations. I like Sam Scott a lot. But he seems to run like a fullback to me.

While Scott certainly isn't the fastest to the hole as a RB, the fact that the pass pro was so bad has everything to do with the O-line. The left side of the line, particularly the LG, was absolutely horrendous. I did get better in the 2nd half, but Kaden was SUPER jumpy after that first series.
