Wyoming picked.....

After last year Sawhead needs to prove he can coach and prove the predictions wrong. We’ll see, but I can see why the Pokes were picked low. I hope they do well. Keeping fingers crossed, but Sawhead has something to prove this year.
I think you're right. But then again, look at Bohl's first 2 years. Just awful. 4 wins and then 2 wins. And then Josh Allen happens. I think Sawvel gets a 3d year no matter how bad this year goes. Maybe they can him if we get only 1 win and attendance falls off a cliff. Four wins will probably get him an extension.

Aren’t they mostly locked-in on Sawful for the next 4 years due to the horrible contract Burman signed him to? I doubt they will part ways unless it goes really, really poorly this season.

Sawvel is owed his whole contract whether he coaches or not basically. I believe he would probably have to go winless to be let go after this year.

Allegedly he was strictly a merit hire to bring continuity and avoid a setback like we've witnessed.

At least that's what Burman said and many on this board.

He isn't afforded the 2 year grace period imo.

The one thing you can count on Burman to do...is make bad decisions relating to coaching positions. I believe him when he outlines his reasons for making the decisions he makes...but his picker is broken.

Let's not forget that Burman explicitly outlined the expectations he had for Sawvel when he announced his hiring. He was clear that the expectation was that Sawvel would take the next step forward with the program.

Instead, Sawvel took a massive step backwards - the exact opposite of what Burman so clearly outlined as his expectation. With that being the case, it's unbelievable that Sawvel was even allowed back this year.

I have absolutely zero faith that Sawvel has the ability to get the ship turned around. I expect this season to be very similar to last year, and I would not be surprised in the least if we open with a loss to Akron on the road. If this is the case...Sawvel absolutely must go. If Burman won't/can't do that, then he must go too.

If the season starts off badly, with the guaranteed money Burman and Sawvell have coming over the next three years, i have real concern we will see them go into hiding about midway through the season looking for buyouts. The board of trustees and the President are totally incompetent for signing off on these disastrous contracts.
