No linemen, mainly skill players, including a fullback, undersized, but still.

Flor may only be 215-pounds now big he is a beast of a blocker. Not to mention quite the salty runner as well. Definitely a throwback 90's type Nebraska fullback.

There is one linemen: John Jackson, Jr. - 6-4 / 265 / DE / Tucson, AZ.fromolwyoming wrote:http://trib.com/news/opinion/blogs/cowb ... ff622.html

I would think that they have filled their allotment on offensive linemen and if John Jackson, Jr. commits that we will have our allotment filled on the defensive line as well.
To me what we need are DB's, and TE's and especially FB's, and I am guessing that he wants a RB in this class as well.
We don't have a commitment from a FB as yet, and I am expecting that Jack Flor is exectly the one that they want. I saw his tapes and the guy is an animal, he held his blocks longer than anyone I have seen in a long time even after he ran the guy into the ground, but he also has the speed to get yards carrying the ball.
We are thin in the defensive backfield and if we can get Crosby and a couple others then we can get some depth there. I am not sure of the number exactly but I would imagine that if we get a bunch of commitments out of this group that Coach Bohl and his staff will be very judicious with the last few scholarships as I don't think we have the ability to give out a total class of 25, but who knows what the attrition will be after spring ball.
Personally I like the RB's that we have in the program now, and if we don't sign one with this class it isn't a big problem in my opinion. I would imagine that the coaching staff is thinking that they are slight ahead of where they thought that they would be in commitments at this stage, just how things fell out. But I think that it shows that Coach Bohl's reputation will get people to take notice, and the opportunity this late in the recruiting season is great at Wyoming especially since most schools have already filled their recruiting classes except for a scholarship or two they are holding back and once kids get on campus, UW sells itself very well.

I really thought we would be going after more full backs and Tight ends instead of undersized spread running backs. I saw the offered an RB from LA who is 5'7" 170 lbs. Who was in a spread based offense and has no offers FCS or FBS. The other RB from Florida( Gardner) could be a developmental type player or a corner if he doesn't pan out, but again he's a spread player.I thought Bohl likes power football? I know he has a plan, but sometimes I scratch my head at some of these offers. We could get walk ons that would fill our needs better from local wyoming boys or a guy like Brandon Miller or Tedder.

I feel like we've got two really solid backs on the roster, but the rest are question marks. Wick is obviously a beast, and May played really well his freshman year. We heard good things about Stover, but never saw anything great on the field. Tapscott is built like a power back (5'9" 200 lbs.), as is Oscar Nevermann (6'1" 210 lbs.), but with them redshirting we have no idea what they can do.
We've got a lot of running backs on the roster already. I wonder if the new staff is looking to move some of them to other positions?

I would like to see us get a good punter and a good kicker in this class. CornPoke - what do you think?

We won't waste a scholarship when we have returners at those positions. We may encourage walk ons but I doubt another kicker or punter will be brought on scholarship.

This is probably right, but we need some back-up (hopefully good ones) at those positions.pokefanchaz7 wrote:We won't waste a scholarship when we have returners at those positions. We may encourage walk ons but I doubt another kicker or punter will be brought on scholarship.

We've still got 3 or 4 Germans on the roster, just let them take care of the backup duties.

Are you saying that the Nzeocha's and Borg are nothing better than back-up guys being that because simply they are German's? I don't know if you meant it that way, but by specifically mentioning the German's and then connecting them to back-up duty the way that you did makes it sound that way. I hope like heck you aren't that closed minded and ignorant? If you wanted to give the U.S. and the State of Wyoming and the University of Wyoming a black eye you couldn't have done a better job if you tried. Frankly a post this prejudice and ignorant (if that is what you meant) should be taken down and apologized for.WestWYOPoke wrote:We've still got 3 or 4 Germans on the roster, just let them take care of the backup duties.

He's referring them to being the backup punter/kicker while still having a primary position in which they battle for PT.

Simply because they are German's???/ That is the way that he made it sound. Anyone with an ounce of common sense should leave out the German part. It shouldn't make any difference if they are German or not......mrtnt3x wrote:here we go again...PotatoCreekPete wrote:Are you saying that the Nzeocha's and Borg are nothing better than back-up guys being that they are just German's? He is stating they have a solid soccer background and make decent kickers punters IE our kickoff specialist a couple of years ago was middle backer but played soccer and could boot the ball out of the endzone.

He made it sound like because they are German's that they should be relegated to the back-up role.....the smart thing would have been to have left the German out of it. Or said if there is anyone on the team with soccer experience maybe they could come out and try out for kicking duties.......I just hope that the German kids don't read this.mrtnt3x wrote:He is stating they have a solid soccer background and make decent kickers punters IE our kickoff specialist a couple of years ago was middle backer but played soccer and could boot the ball out of the endzone.
Or you shouldn't read into something that isn't there. It was pretty clear that he meant they could be the backup punter/kicker because Germany is a soccer country and they all grew up playing soccer.PotatoCreekPete wrote:He made it sound like because they are German's that they should be relegated to the back-up role.....the smart thing would have been to have left the German out of it. PotatoCreekPete, you seem to have anger issues ....don't look for trouble when there is none there. Take a deep breath dude.YankPoke wrote:Or you shouldn't read into something that isn't there. Well, he did start kind of late. But he does have a reputation of developing players. Considering NDSU destroyed all competition this last year, I think he knows what he's doing.J-Rod wrote:Bohl seems to be targeting a lot of FCS recruits. The dude is either a developmental genius, or this could end really badly. VERY intriguing era ahead in Laramie.

Holy poop potato, do you even follow Wyoming football??? My comment was in reference to our MLB a few years back, Oliver Schober from GERMANY. It was a joke referencing how even though he wasn't a kicker, he ended up being our kickoff specialist because he could boot the hell out of the ball. It was not a social comment on Germany or it's citizens nor was it in reference to a German individual's tendency to have soccer experience; it was simply a joke referencing how a few years ago we had a VERY nontraditional kicker who just so happened to be from GERMANY. Anyone that does even a half-assed job at following Wyoming football would catch the reference.
poop dude, you read way, way, WAY too much into poop that isn't even there.
