After a couple weeks off we're back with some bracketology. A little bit of personal life got in the way of getting this out to the masses. After a couple weeks off it appears that as much as things change, the more the stay the same. Oregon is still the top dog in this bracket, sitting alone at the top of the rankings and this bracket. The Ducks have reeled off some impressive wins and are in the driver's seat of the Big Ten. Georgia and Ohio State make cases for their spot at 2 or 3. However, for the purpose of the bracket Ohio State will occupy the five seed. Miami survived against Duke this past weekend. Cam Ward is kind of an insane player, but I'm still not convinced that Miami is a good team.
The Big 12 is where things are getting a little western. Iowa State was leading the pack, but now have found themselves outside the playoff bracket with a loss to Texas Tech. BYU has taken their spot at the table and as it sits right now they are the only Big 12 team in the playoff. Which is kind of funny considering since the Sagarin rankings have the Big 12 as the second toughest conference behind the SEC. SMU from the ACC is making their case to be included in the playoff and in a couple weeks that seems like it could be a reality. The Mustangs have looked good over the last few weeks and racked up a nice win this past weekend against Pittsburgh.
As far as the group of five spot, Boise State still has a stranglehold on that spot, as they have most of the season. Led my probable Heisman Trophy leader Aston Jeanty the Broncos are dismantling everyone they play. Army is nipping at their heels, however, the Black Knights have a difficult remaining schedule against North Texas, Notre Dame, and Navy. Navy has seen their playoff dreams die with consecutive losses. The Ragin' Cajuns from Louisiana should be smooth sailing until their season finale vs rival Louisiana-Monroe.
