WyoNation Bracketology: Week 3

blogtitle.webp

Week 3 of the college football season was a fairly uneventful one in terms of the bracketology. Every team I'm tracking in my top 20 was a winner with a couple of byes for Penn State and Ohio State. Is it possible to have a boring week of college football? Well, no. Personally I was in attendance for a Montana blowout win vs something called Morehead State on Saturday afternoon. While attending my first in-person game of the 2024 season I was bored watching the Griz run up the score on a clearly inferior team. However, I did see my first in-person scorigami this weekend as the Griz won by a 59-2 score. Morehead's lone score coming off of a blocked PAT returned for a score late in the game.

The next week and a half will be a personally interesting exciting one for me as I'll be in attendance for Montana vs Western Carolina on Saturday then off to South Bend, Indiana for Notre Dame vs Louisville the following weekend. An unexpected top 25 match-up for the Irish and Cardinals. And since we're in the hood we'll be taking in Cubs and Reds at Wrigley, and with any luck Bears vs Rams at Soldier Field. We love sports, clearly.

There figures to be some movement in the rankings and bracketology this week as we have several teams in the top 25 facing off. A particularly interesting game to me is Oklahoma State vs Utah. One of these two teams will most likely win the Big 12, and thus the automatic bid into the playoff, so this will be a pivotal match-up. Can't rule out Kansas State as the Big 12 winner as well. Tennessee vs Oklahoma should be an interesting match-up. I don't think either of these teams will win the SEC but playoff positioning is certainly important here. A game that could probably end a playoff chance for one team, Michigan. Michigan will be taking on USC in the Big House. I don't know if this would be a playoff killer for USC with a loss, but in a conference that's going to be fighting for spots with each other, best to win them all.

Onto the bracket and rankings!
