Wyonation 5 on 5: Oregon [Wyonation Blog]

People are looking too much at Oregon beating Nebraska and thinking Oregon is great because of their win over the Cornhuskers.

This years Nebraska team isn't that good. They will be lucky to win 6 games this year. Arkansas St. racked up about 500 yards of offense on Nebraska in Lincoln the first week and had a chance to tie the game to send it into overtime on the last possession but their QB overthrew his receiver.

So then Nebraska goes to Oregon and Oregon gets 500 yards of offense on the same Nebraska defense that gave up almost 500 yards to Arkansas St. and everyone thinks Oregon is back to their old selves? Nope not buying it.

Nebraska's defense isn't that good and they made an adjustment in the 2nd half and Oregon only had one good drive the whole 2nd half and was stopped on downs. Some people say Oregon took their foot off the gas? No I don't think so. The week before against Southern Utah they kept their foot on the gas and scored 21 points in the 3rd qtr. They would have liked to do the same thing with Nebraska but they weren't able to.

Nebraska also gave Oregon a short field a couple of times in the first half with turnovers.

Nebraska got the ball back with a chance to tie the game last week but turned it over again. Give some credit to the Oregon defense for creating turnovers.

Wyoming's defense this year is better than Nebraska's defense. Nebraska is replacing a lot of people offensively and defensively.

There is going to be a lot of surprised people tomorrow at how close this game is. If you are betting this game Take Wyoming +14. That is way too many points. Oregon is going to be lucky to get out of Laramie with a win.

Wyoming went undefeated at home in the regular season last year and were 14 point dogs to Boise when they came to town. We all know how that turned out. This Oregon team isn't the Oregon team of 3 or 4 years ago.

Just because they looked good in the 1st half against a bad Nebraska defense and very mediocre Nebraska team doesn't mean they will just stroll into Laramie and destroy Wyoming. Expect to see a very different Wyoming offense tomorrow. This game is going to the 4th qtr. with it up for grabs.

I won't predict an outright upset but I will say with the home crowd, the altitude and the Wyoming defense, Wyoming easily covers the spread and has a shot at an outright win if they don't turn the ball over.

Go Pokes!

I actually agree with everything you said. Beating a down bugeater team at home was expected, they were at home. Iowa in Laramie would have played differently than it did on the road. And this is two games removed from the ducks going 4-8 and 2-7 in Pac12 play. This is a relatively young roster still and I believe if the Pokes can impose their will early and maybe create some plays that swing momentum in their favor ghosts of last season will start haunting this Ducks team. This isnt the Ducks team of old and they better strap it up and show up tomorrow because the B&G defense won't hesitate to get in their grill and light someone up. I am not calling for a for sure UW win but I think this game will be closer than expected and Wyoming will have its chance to win this game.

Cant wait! Go Pokes!

Well said Seattlecowboy! I'd be in total agreement if we hadn't rushed the way we have the first two games.

I also agree with Seattlecowboy but if we can't run the ball, sustain drives and become 1 dimensional even our stout defense will get tired and it will be a long day. I hope I am wrong and I hope Trey can break out!

Its weird to say that a freshman like him could be the difference in the game but I think its true. I like what I have seen from him, he's the closest to a running threat that I have seen this season. We have to get the running game going to have a chance tomorrow and I think he is the closest to a prototypical RB that we have. Time to have a break out game!

Yeah, if we can't run the ball on Oregon, it's going to be an embarrassing score at the end of it. If we can run it, though, anything can happen.

Overstreet will be the man. He needs more reps after his injury

I wear the brown and gold glasses, but I have a difficult time understanding how a team that rushed for an abysmal 65 yards against Gardiner Webb will all of a sudden break out and succeed against Oregon. I will be thrilled to come back and eat a healthy serving of crow if I am wrong, but I don't think the Pokes sniff 100 yards rushing in this game. It will all fall on Allen to hit short passes and the few long balls to keep the offense on the field, and a Herculean effort by the defense to keep the Pokes in this one. :twocents:

Nebraska down 14-0 to northern Illinois right now. This gives me hope about oregons performance

Like I said Nebraska isn't that great this year. Wyoming at home can definitely play with Oregon.

Let's get that home crowd rockin and win this game.

Go Pokes!
