Wyonation 5 on 5: New Mexico [Wyonation Blog]

My prediction:
Wyoming 17 - New Mexico 34.

New Mexico dominates time of possession and keeps drives alive because our defensive tackles are still wet behind the ears and the veterans we need are injured. If we were healthy, I'd be a lot more optimistic. I think Holt and Jackson are both very talented, but they're going to be overwhelmed and quickly get exhausted.

On offense, nothing changes from a week ago. We'll have one drive where everything looks solid, but the plays that are successful won't be seen again for the rest of the game. We definitely won't establish a running game.

I think we get them. They are a solid team, but not the same team that eviscerated us last year. We didn't have Carl last year vs them and DE is the most crucial position when defending the option. Carl is going to have a huge day and we'll hold them to under 20. Somehow our offense gets it going and gives us enough to win (still trying to reconcile the offense part in my own head)

Wyo wins this one, although we probably shouldn't.

Reasoning? It is all motivation & remembering being dismantled last year in the Q. That and Stannard is gone, so we won't see a 262 rushing yard first quarter and be down 21 - 0.

I'm a little nervous for this one. I think our D can hold up and there will be some opportunity in the passing game. If we rely on the run to open things up, I don't like our chances.

If we can get the passing game going early and on first or second down, I think our o will find some success. We'll probably also need a TD from special teams or d. If these happen, I think we pull it out.

If it wasn’t for the shit storm going on down there, I think we’d lose. I do think the team doesn’t care too much and have halfway laid dowb

NM can run one hell of a lot better than the Pokes. They don't pass much but when they have to, they are a little better than the Pokes. The odds makers are right - NM does have the edge, but I think it is greater than they say: Wyo 14, NM 21.
