“I had an issue with a player not being injured, jogging all the way across the field and — five yards from the sideline — falling on the ground. And they stand around for four minutes. I have an issue with the ethics. That’s not ethical. I let him know what I felt about it,” Christensen said.

Dear Dave, please save us the soapbox speeches about what you teach 'the kids' and all that other gooey sounding stuff.

Nobody in Laramie is looking for criminals or cheaters, but lets keep this where the focus should be.

Where it should not be is with you complaining and sounding petty --almost as if you're trying to run a misdirection play to throw peoples minds off the fact that this season has been a total disaster to date.

As illogical as it may seem, nobody gives a rats tail about how many Hardy Boys -- or Johnny Appleseed A+ honest and integrity filled players you have on your roster -- not if it means being 1-5 overall, 0-2 in conference play, and an embarrassing loss at home to a team that was supposed to be a nice easy scrimmage game.

The above goes for any coach in America who plays in the high stakes game of college football these days.

You could have each player on your team helping old lady's to cross a street, yet nobody wants to hear about it when things are trending downward significantly.

This business is about one thing and one thing only: WINNING GAMES.

Win a lot of em' and a coach could have a statue of themselves built outside the stadium.

Lose lots of em' and look hideous in the process -- and commentary such as was expressed after today's game looks downright comical and ridiculously excuse ridden.

I happened to believe that Dave Christensen was indeed the right person at the right time to make Wyoming football a winning & consistent program for years to come -- and perhaps time may prove that to be true.

Lest anyone believe that coaching at this level is an easy proposition -- it is not.

However focusing on whether an opposing player either was - or was not - injured, upon conclusion of yet another stomach turning loss will make some people question if the recipe is being put together by the right cook in the kitchen after all.
 
DC is an embarassment. That looked absolutely terrible from my vantage point in my bar in Green River drinking a beer in front of my TV. To lose like that and then make an ass out of yourself on TV?!?!? Just damn poor.
 
Yeah, let's get behind Air Force and let them pull that shit. Fuck DC for sticking up for what he thought was dirty pool. That was bush league by Calhoun, but I'm not part of the lynch mob.

I agree that it was a dirty bit by Calhoun and his QB, but I'm also getting frustrated at how we tend to piss away big leads in most of our games. And we either hang on by our fingernails, or we completely blow it. DC has done a great job in finding talent and bringing it in, and a great job in not playing favorites. But the lack of halftime adjustments in EVERY game, going away from what was working, and being far too conservative on many play calls has cost us a good many of our games.
 
just watched the end of the game over and over. Here is how I saw it.

Dc is pissed about the alleged extended injury
Calhoun charged some of Wyoming players leaving the field (not sure why. Looked like he was trying to get them to shake hands). Troy confronts the UW players in the north endzone.
By then, dc was there.
Troy says good job and dc starts complaining concern.
I wish I could capture on film and post troys face. The smirk is what prob sent dc over the top. He was looking at dc like, "yeah, I did that, but what can you do about it..." He was scoffing in dc face. Then troy kept walking off with dc just smiling at him in his face.

Honestly, my whole thoughts just changed after watching this again over and over. Dc kept telling him to get out of his face and troy just kept smirking and walking in his face. Any guy would be pissed too.

I will try and record it and put it online somewhere. Really opened my eyes.

You're right. DC was pissed about the fake injury (which was clear and was Bush League) and when Calhoun started yelling at our guys then smirked when DC said somethin, it put it over the top. Everyone thought we would lose this game with Brett and when we lose by 1 with our backup everybody is jumping ship? This team could have won every game so far and I don't think our coaching has been bad. We have had terrible run D then we do great against the nations leading rusher then against the nations leading rushing team. The coaches focused on that and made it happen. We could realistically win every game left.

Against Toledo, he drives us down to score when Colby couldnt
Against Cal Poly, we do not even come close to losing to them with smith
If Smith is in the game against nevada in the end of the game, we score at the end of 4th to win.
If Smith plays against AFA we win, no doubt. If Thompson got us with in 1 point, me thinks its a no brainer that we win

If Smith is in, we are 5-1, no DOUBT!
but he wasn't in the end of the final 4 losses (2 games he didn't even play one snap!!)
we get killed against FRESNO w/out smith
we have a QB shoot out with smith
we get stomped by boise w/out smith
another offensive shoot out w/smith
pillow fight similar to idaho game against CSU w/out smith
ass kicking by smith and the seniors with smith
NM whoops us w/out smith
Hard fought struggle but a win by 10 or so points w/smith
UNLV same situation as NM
SDSU same situation as NM and UNLV

Bottom line is, we have got to win one of the Fresno or Boise games, then Beat the Sheep, and win the final 3 games to go 6-6
But if we can grab fresno and boise, I expect us to go 7-5.
Then we win a bowl game and are 8-5, finishing 3rd in the conference (probably)
then what do the DC haters say about him?
 
I don't think the injury was fake, in fact I don't think Dietz should've been cleared to come back in the game. What I saw on TV was a dazed and confused dude after a blow to the head who nearly passed out when he took a knee. Obviously must have passed all of AFA's tests but he looked legit fucked up.

And after the TD run (before it was confirmed) he was right back on the field, rather quickly, and later said his head felt fine.

Look dudes go on and be all downer and hating the football season, I'm not saying we SHOULD be 5-1 I am saying We are 1 damn player from being 5-1. We aren't. I've said that.

But if you want to look at it REALISTICLY we are not that far from being a top25 team. That's football. It's a couple of plays here or there that matter. For us, its unfortunate that those couple of plays always have to be made by brett smith

games that brett smith finishes we are 1-1
games he doesn't finsish 0-4

That's a rel honest break down, not just making excuses.
If brett smith can play the remainder of our games, and FINISH them, (or even START them)
we are going to a bowl game

Bottom line this team has been awful, no run defense, no running game whatsoever to speak of (sans yesterdays game when they had a semblance of one), no pass rush, no takeaways on defense, horrendous tackling, a loss to a high school team...the team you have in your mind is a figment of your imagination compared with the team most of us have been watching on a week-by-week basis.

Additionally, merely mentioning a 'bowl game' in the same sentence with the results and play of this team to date is a major insult. There is not a credible Pokes fan on earth who is even thinking this team should be anywhere near something called a bowl game.

Do you think the top25 committee even looks at our freakin rush D? our pass d? Our overall D?
Absolutely not. if we were 5-1 we would be top 25 or getting votes.
They do no give 2 shits about our D all they care about is RECORD!!!!
I've said it before and i will say it again. If we were 5-1 we would be getting votes or be top 25

And all this goes back to the point if we had brett smith FINISHING those last 4 losses, we would be 5-1
but we're not. So oh well. Let's hope he plays and we beat Fresno.
