Wyoming vs. Weber State

Some Weber State fans seem to think they're going to come into Laramie and beat up on the Cowboys next year. They also seem to think they have a very favorable shot at beating the Sheep the week after that too. After watching Montana play them twice this year I'd say their defense is pretty suspect and their offense is pretty good, but if you shut down their RB Trevyn Smith the chances of them being productive decrease significantly.

Weber State Fans Forum

Last year they played both Utah and Hawaii, almost beating Hawaii and losing to Utah by a bit. What do you guys think?

i guess they dont know that Wyoming has a very good defense.

and the offense i think will be able to move the ball, especially against weber st, i mean theyre no ndsu! haha

weber st? really? ur a joke.

LOL I wouldn't call a 19 point loss to our 4th string QB "Almost beating Hawaii". Not to mention we did better then Utah did against them to.

Can't overlook anyone, but I don't see Weber beating UW. WSU's secondary will be good bait for DC's passing system. If Wyoming can stun Virginia on opening day they can beat UW. They just can't be looking ahead to Texas.

Wasn't Weber leading the 'Bows at halftime?

Yep.

I wouldn't laugh, at least we didn't lose to Bowling Green by 29 points on our home field.

Oh.....also.....Weber fans smacked a lot to UH fans before the game to. They thought we are were going to be a cake walk win

This game is a priority win though, a loss would be catastrophic right before the Texas game.

haha.. yeah, that was bad. Weber did a lot of smacking on Montana before our playoff game.. they had beaten us earlier in the year in Ogden, so we kicked their dicks in the dirt and sent them home for the season.. man, talk about whining after they lost. Good lord it was bad.

At least the Falcons are a FBS (I-A) school. Weber is a lowly I-AA squad (FCS). Like I said....

They seem to get real cocky with basketball too, but maybe its just all sports. A few of them strongly felt they deserve to be in the WAC instead of their nearby friend Utah State....USU is bad.....but Weber State isn't that good.

Gotta feeling UW may kick the crap out of WSU, DC isn't going to want to start off his era Dan Hawkins style. I imagine he will attack and attack until WSU has nothing left in the tank.......

Don't they play Colorado State the week after?

Come on now Okie......do we have to play this game?

You're clearly delusional, We won the freaking game! and it wasn't close as the score appears! UW LOST dude. Not to mention it took a last second FG for UW to beat FCS team North Dakota State....whom was not as good as Weber and had a very down year compared to what they usually do.

Not starting a pissing contest with all you UW folks, just need to set this Poke straight.....he does this often 8-)

We won't lose to Weber and it won't be much of a game either. Period.

Is it really Weber State football that we are talking about here? They purple kittens from mormon land don't stand a chance. They should forfeit so they don't suffer a ton of injuries.

LOL.

Lucky for you folks there aren't a ton of WSU fans on the internet....I don't know if that''s the whole mormon thing again but.......there just ain't a whole lot of them. Unlike the North Dakota State fans....few will come to post....and that goes for most FCS schools(Montana not included)

The Pokes must and will beat Weber State. The shame of losing to three Utah schools is a season would just be too much to take.

I'm surprised by all the people who find it laughable that Weber St. thinks they can beat us. Honestly, why shouldn't they? I do recall NDSU walking in to The War and nearly beating us last year, and I think Weber St. is a better football team than NDSU. They will also return four 1st team all Big Sky players on offense and 3 first team defenders. I'm hoping we will be improved over last year, but lets be realistic here. I don't think we are going to be contending for a MWC championship already. For the most part, these are going to be the same players went 4-8 last season and lost most of their games by huge margins. I'm sure there were a lot of Tennessee fans who thought it laughable that Wyoming could beat them in Knoxville. We all know who had the last laugh there.

Yes, but if DC can help our offense just slightly and we can improve on our turnovers, we will be a much better team. I truely believe our last coaching staff didn't prepare these kids like they should have been. I've heard practices, etc, were not production environments. How many times did our offense give up easy scores? Too many. Take care of the ball and we will improve dramatically.

Last year's team, talent and ability wise was better than the 4-8 record. Don't get me wrong we weren't close to the top 3 in the MWC, but at worst that team should have been 6-6. Eliminate the turnovers, especially those that resulted in immediate points for the opposition and the season has an entirely different feel. Now combine that this year with an offense that will be designed to score points instead of clock management and its not hard to expect more this season than the results from a year ago.

You guys make some great points, but reality is....Joe Glenn just didn't get it....period. He had lost his touch there at the end of his tenure. I don't see the same thing with DC. Different approach, different schemes, and hopefully he plays to win....not to prevent losing.

WSU has upset potential.....but considering Weber has ZERO film on DC's approach as a HC, I don't think they will be prepared enough to stop a pass heavy offense.......

I mean come on.....this is the same Weber state team that gave up 68 points and 9 TD passes(You heard me, NINE!!!) to a True Freshman QB who hadn't played since high school. Their secondary is terrible.

J-Rod:

Weber St. actually has two pretty damn good players in their secondary. Josh Morris is a pretty good cornerback. He had five interceptions last year and broke up another 9 passes. Beau Hadley is an even better safety. He reminds me a lot of John Wendling. He had 121 tackles, 5 forced fumbles, and 4 picks last year. I'm hoping we can spread them out and scheme away from these guys in our passing game. Based on what I've seen out of our wide receivers, I think these two guys could handle any one of our wide receivers pretty easily. I hate to sound so defeatist, but I hate when fans think we are good enough to overlook any team in the nation. There is more parity in college football then there ever has been before. I know how much it pisses me off when we play BCS schools and they talk about us like we are a high school team. Sometimes they pound us, but more recently, we have came out on top in a majority of those games. I'm not about to make the same mistake with a FCS school.
