Wyoming vs Okla Panhandle

Now we're taking over the game. But they can't afford to play like that during conference play, especially with all of the turn overs, that's why this Div 2 team has stuck around for as long as they have.

Good win started slow, but turned it on late. Denver is up next. Gilmore can really shoot the ball... Nance and Washington should both make top 10, but won't. Just like Leonard didn't against ISU. It was a good crowd given the opponent and the weather. I am excited that we have 10 days off, get some good rest especially for Riley

Why do we have s 15,000 seat arena again?
If the roads hadnt of been shit and i80 west of Laramie hadnt of been closed and if it wasn't finals week it would've been much more full.

You do know we have had roughly 15 crowds of 15,000+ in 30yrs at the good old Aa. 10 of those were in the 80'S.

I would agree 15k is too big of an arena as we never fill it, and never will on a consistent basis. I think the renovations that are planned bringing it to 12k is perfect, still leaves us the pride of having one of the bigger arenas along with being able to have those big crowds. It also allows it to look better when we have the usual 5-7k per game.

Your negativity is really off-putting and I am not the only one on this board that thinks that. Do you know that the top 3 of those 15 crowds were within the last 10 years? Also, do you know that the last time we had a successful team was 10 years ago when we had those 3 largest crowds in AA history? If we have a successful team this year we will once again have some of the biggest crowds in AA history. It takes wins to fill seats and I believe this team is capable of winning in conference play. There is a reason we have a 15,000 person arena. That reason is we can fill it when we have great teams. You will see if this team continues to win like they have been, we will fill the AA. Have you been to a game yet this year? I am assuming you haven't so instead you choose to be negative and bitch behind your computer screen.

Well then, let's just drop down a division or two, doze the AA, and play our BBall at LHS.

So instead of building a program that is capable of building up the fan base, we decide it is to dumb to have a few extra seats, so lets get rid of 4,000 seats and add 1,000 luxury suit seats, we will have smaller crowds during sellouts, and we can price the tickets even higher for what would still be an occasional sellout, ticket prices have gone up quite a bit for UNM since they dropped 4,000 seats...Stupid!

Just like football, We might as well get rid of a few more sitting areas and dumb it down to, oh, 24,000. That we we sellout consistantly! It will look great! Right? Not so much. Because the fact is, it is still only 24,000 fans. It would be one of the smallest stadiums in D1 and ticket prices will go up. Not to mention when we do get the occasional sellout, instead of a potential 34,745 (CSU 97) we maybe bring in extra seats to get us to 26,000. And those numbers are based off of or sellouts now. Wyo-virg, stadium holds 30,000, we have 31,117. Wyo-tex stadium holds 29,086, we have 31,017. Wyo-neb stadium holds 29,086, we have 32,617.

I'm just not seeing your small time logic.
And cuttslam, you gave me the idea of dozing you :winky:

Nobody was talking about the War you must be confused it was the AA we were referring too. I hate too burst your bubble but we are small time, we have a small time athlete budget, we play in a small time stadium(30,000) average attendance under 20,000, we play in front of 10,000 empty seats a game, in a town of 30,000, small time tv contract(800,000) Hell we cant even stream a game decently. The list goes on and on, as the great Tom Burman has said "we are what we are," Guess what, there is nothing wrong with that as long as you are continuing to strive for excellence and not mediocre.I think most of the time the administration strives for the latter. Please don't doze me. One more thing Stanford(7329) Gonzaga(6000) Duke(9000) are not small time.

Not confused at all, I guess you have a hard time seeing examples. Great atmosphere at Cameron! They get really crazy. By the way, the cheapest ticket to a Duke game...88.00! And tickets are insanely hard to come by. Gonzaga, never been but they aren't far off with their cheapest ticket being 75.00. Wyo and Denver... 18.00. Now if we are good and averaging good crowds like we did in the early 2000's I can see 25 to 35.00 tickets and I won't complain. I will however complain when we renovate to bring in suites lowering our capacity by 4,000 seats and jumping up ticket prices. I'm fine with renovations. I'm not fine with complete makeovers that take away quality. If you have ever been to a sellout like I have in Laramie it is hard to give up the atmosphere it brings... but since you would rather have more sellout experiences with 4,000 fewer people, have fun. It's not as loud. 4,000 more screaming fans make for a helluva ruckus crowd!

Actually it is cutting 3k not 4k like you keep saying it will. I personally love the fact that our arena is 15k and I like that we have one of the bigger arenas in the nation it is really cool. I am just saying I like the look of the planned renovations and think they will be a good thing for the AA as it is out of date. I would rather save the 2k in seats that we will lose for the luxery boxes as I think those are worthless and keep it like it is now just with a face lift of new seats and the concourses and floor being upgraded. I don't see a problem with dropping it down to 12k as we would still have a large arena and with these renovations a state of the art one. I would have a problem if we went below 12k as I want us to have one of the bigger arenas still and don't want to drop to 10k or anywhere around there. 12k and up is good with me as it still leaves us with a large arena and gives the AA the facelift that it needs to be a competitive facility and the floor that they need for practice. I am not disagreeing with you about the fact that the bigger the better as long as we can fill it, but I am saying 12k is probably a pretty good number for our arena.
