Nebraska will likely enter this game 3-0. They open against Tennessee at Chattanooga followed by Fresno State. Fresno State will keep the score respectable but ultimately NU comes out on top. In week 3, Nebraska takes on Washington Huskies for the 3rd time in less than a year. NU was embarrASSed by them in last year's uninspired Holiday Bowl. They'll prepare and they'll play well at home and they'll win a close one at home.
This is where NU falters is week 4 on the road against the Pokes. They face a West Coast Offense in Washington in week 3 and then in week 5, they open play against a very tough Wisconsin team on the road. Between the teams is a Cowboys team that despite being 3-0 at the time looks to Nebraska to be more like Chattanooga than Fresno State. The coaches will claim all week long that they aren't overlooking Wyoming but all the radio shows will be talking about Wisconsin the following week and the players will be thinking it too.
South Dakota State came to Memorial Stadium in week 4 of last year and held NU to only 17 pts with a healthy Taylor Martinez running the offense. It happened to be the week after they played Washington and two weeks before Texas.
