As a Wyoming sports writer you should be supportive of the team you report on even with the smallest glimmer of hope. Remember they are the reason you have a job.

This. Sportswriters, no matter who they write for, have to be objective or it gets in the way of their career. I follow pretty much every beat writer in the MW and they're all just like Schmoldt.. objective. If you follow Frank Schwab from the Colorado Springs Gazette he's about as cynical as they come as far as what they say about the team they follow. They call it as they see it. The Casper Star and Laramie Boomerang/WTE don't pay Schmoldt and Gagliardi to be opinion writers.. they have to report the facts, no matter how much they suck sometimes. :twocents:

fair points but I still think you should have some sort of loyalty. Especially when the team basically provides him a job. Plus if a coach were to see that they may not be as willing to answer his questions. Some coaches already hate most media so by you showing lack of support how likely are they to like you at all.

It's a double edged sword. If a coach refuses to answer questions that means the writer can write whatever he wants.. and that can end very badly. I watched it happen up here in Missoula when Bobby Hauck stonewalled the UM student paper.. then it went totally viral and Hauck got blackballed from the local paper to the AP to ESPN.. coaches and media ALWAYS walk a very fine line with each other.. sometimes media asks some questions of coaches that they don't always like.. but coaches control the story if they answer the questions, if not, it's left to interpretation.

funny feeling i have but i believe we are going to make some noise and beat the Rebels on Thursday, sure hope this feeling is correct, lots of adjustments will be made and we'll slow it down in our favor!!!

NEED to be made. MUST be made. Most important , IMHO, 1) Keep UNLV from getting inside, 2) Figure out what the best combination on the floor is from the bench to GIVE THE STARTERS A REST! (notice how the game gets away late? That's fatigue)

I believe our coaching staff is better and far more experienced in big games than UNLV's is and will make the necessary corrections to the game plan and our players for the game this Thursday. Give them hell Pokes!.

Biggest thing we need to change for next Thursday is committing less turnovers. We average about 11 per game and last night we had 18. That gave UNLV 7 more chances to score and us 7 less than we normally get each game.

If we can limit the turnovers we will have a chance for sure.

Slow it down. Run our pace, which i think we did well. Don't get frazzled if we get behind, i think we did great.More crisp passes, needs a lot of work. When you have the ball down below your basket and have three defenders converging on you just go up strong and draw a foul, don't pass back outside where the pass will 99% of the time be deflected away or stolen. Play Hard on the boards. I think we did decent, some players more than others. Keep your head in the game. Do not allow the opponents jawing or refs retarded calls allow you to lose composure. Continue to work on what you know needs to be done.

UNLV, their fans, & the refs got into the Cowboy's heads last night more than any other game this season. If we block that out and play our game, we can beat this team.
