The Longhorns IMO, are just overrated across the board. Remove that iconic Longhorn logo from that helmet, and you would think Wyoming was opening up against some mid-level to below average SEC school. I think Wyo hangs around, but a combination of fatigue, bad run defense, and possible officiating keeps them from winning.

I have a feeling our offense is going to struggle mightily. I wouldn't be surprised to see under 250 yards of total offense for the Pokes.

I think the defense will play well, especially in the first half. I look for a bunch of three and outs early on from both teams.

In the end, Texas' depth will beat down the Pokes defense and they will begin to move the ball in the 2nd half.

I think this game will be closer than some people think but the Texas defense will be to much in the end and the Texas running game will finally wear us down in the 2nd half.

My heart says UW 20 Texas 17... The only way we win this game in my opinion is to win a defensive struggle. Texas is saying they want to use both their qb's and we all know that two qb's= no qb's. they have never seen Chris Tormey on film and this defense seems energized and has more depth then in previous years. Also for this to happen the pokes must win the turnover battle.


My head says Wyoming 17 Texas 34, Wyoming is not Texas and Texas is up for the game in front of 100,000 fans. I think wyoming keeps it close for the first half and texas pulls away in the second half.

For my official prediction i'll go with my heart

I hope I'm wrong and that tomorrow I have to say something nice about CSU. I feel this could be a blow out, not in our favor.

For our defense I see us having to fight long periods of time on the field as Texas grinds it out on the ground, mostly running around us not through us, with many large gains. And if we pull our secondary up, it'll give their QB and their receivers the space they needs to kill us in the air. I just don't feel we have the experience or talent in this match up. It's been said our D has a lot of depth, but I think it's more depth potential, not depth experience.

On the other side of the ball it's all about Brett. For good or bad I can't imagine a team in all of college football that will depend on one player as much as this team depends on him. He will do anything to win and if we don't start out moving the ball well in the first couple of series, he may decide to just take off which might work a couple times until they lock him down. I don't see our RBs making a lot of early noise and if the receivers can't get open, he might just get the green light from DC. If this Texas D doesn't or doesn't need to respect our running game, and just come after Brett, I am really worried about injury. And with all due respect to Kirk, he doesn't have the game experience yet. I hope we keep Brett healthy, regardless of the score. Healthy, he probaly leads us to victory next game, beat up, probably not. The next two games ( 3 & 4) should be gimmies. I'd rather start out 3-1 with an ass whoopin' lose to Texas then 2-2 with a "good showing" against Texas.

The last thing that worries me is the kicking game. Our punter, although with a strong leg, I don't believe has ever played a real game of football in his life. If Texas comes after him in front of 100,000+ crazies there could be some real bad field position situations and maybe some turn overs. Our kicker who won the job with or without Sullivan red-shirting is still fairly green and may face some rubber legs as well, in front of this crowd against that defense. He seems very steady so the short kicks won't be a problem. Anything over 40 or maybe even 35 could cause an issue. Kicking off should be okay. I doubt he'll get touchbacks, so we may be able to keep Texas starting with bad field position , rather than the 25 yard line.

I say Texas covers. My score, 48 - 10.

I still see the Pokes going 9-3 or even 10-2. But I don't see the wins starting this week.

Sorry, but if UW lost to these guys by 38 points, I'd have hard time seeing 9-3 or 10-2.

I can't see them losing by that much though. Even Wyoming's 2010 (3-9) team didn't lose by that much.

Yeah i agree that game prediction is crazy bad. We have brett smith, not ACS, we do not have a limited offense. We can run the ball, and not for just 1 yard runs. Our WR can compete. Herron will be just as fast as any texas player if not faster. There is no way that this team loses to this texas team WORSE THAN our 7-6 team lost to colt mccoy or our 3-9 team lost to garret gilbert.

I have hope, but not faith. I didn't want to be a "my heart says, but my head says" guy. It's GTS, so that's what I did. You'll get no argument from me as to how valuable Brett is to this team. Right now, before the first snap I think he's easily the MWC MVP and maybe in the entire country. Remember, ACS had a big freshman year as well. He didn't hit Brett's numbers, but he did it without the support Brett had, a monkey calling the plays and most important,he shared the season at QB. They both averaged about 10 yards per completion their first year. Where Brett ran for yards, ACS ran for his life. That's the biggest difference in Brett's better overall performance. Then again there were more interceptions with Brett, but also more TDs.

Our 2012 team appears better than our 2010 team, but so does Texas. I can see 10-2 or 9-3 as much of a reflection of our improved team and coaches as I do the weakness of our schedule, compared to 2010. For instance, weren't 5 of our first 7 games against ranked teams?
